First Post
Retroblasting, a web-series devoted to 70s/80s pop-culture with a focus on toys, has just released the first of a 2-part episode discussing the Dungeons & Dragons cartoon series. The nearly 26-minute episode takes an in-depth look at the show's roots, development, characters, themes, and lasting impact. The opening to the episode features a game of D&D being run by Broken Vader, an arm-less, cranky Darth Vader doll used in several of Retroblasting's videos. Fantasy author Jonathan French is interviewed, providing his opinion of the series. The forthcoming second part will look into the toy-line and merchandising developed around the cartoon series.

About Retroblasting

RetroBlasting researches and analyzes all things retro, from old school to reboots, always with a sense of humor. They put everything from Atari to Transformers under the microscope with the goal of deconstructing the properties and letting you see them in a new light. They pride themselves on being an independent and honest voice that doesn’t pull punches when reviewing toys, cartoons, movies, comics, and geek culture.

Michael grew up on Indiana Jones, Voltron, and Star Wars. He has a passion for most all things 80s, from DeLoreans to proton packs to obscure Japanese robot toys. He has degrees in film and journalism, which give him a unique perspective on fandom. He was closely involved with the development of Star Wars: Revisited and ESB: the Reconstruction as well as serving as a staff writer for TheRaider.net and IndyGear.com. In 2013 he was named social media administrator for Voltron by World Events Productions.

Melinda grew up on My Little Pony, Thundarr, and heavy metal (when she got a little older). She has degrees in art and anthropology and loves digging up odd facts about 80s properties. She tends to be a purist in her fandom (much like Michael), preferring originals to reboots. She loves conventions, cosplay, and horror films. Even though she’s a big death metal fan, she still loves ponies and kittens. And weapons of all kinds.

In addition to creating regular content for the YouTube channel, RetroBlasting has recently presented at a number of conventions in the US, including Pensacon, Emerald City Comicon, and Dragoncon. They are also regular guests on Mike Alonzo’s Clobberin’ Time on BlogTalkRadio.

About Jonathan French
Jonathan French is the author of the ongoing Autumn’s Fall Saga, and The Grey Bastards, a gritty stand-alone novel. Like many fantasy novelists, he originally developed his magical setting as a backdrop for the roleplaying games he ran for his friends. After submitting his creations to a once-mighty RPG company, he received an offer to purchase his intellectual property. Ultimately, he chose to keep his brainchildren close to home and began writing the Autumn’s Fall Saga novels in earnest.

An outspoken advocate on the merits and future of independent publishing, Jonathan has led panel discussions at conventions across the Southeast, with subjects ranging from marketing to art direction. He has been a guest at DragonCon, CONjuration, TimeGate, and will appear at JordanCon in 2016. He currently lives in Atlanta with his wife and toddling son, who can already throw a mean d10.

His third novel, The Grey Bastards, launched in November 2015. Further information can be found at www.jonathanfrenchbooks.com.
