Revenge of the Sith DvD

That's Latin for "cool"
The documentary on this one again did not have much to do with the cast. It covered the first minute of the Ovi-Anikin fight and the amazing ammount of technical resources that went into it. Something like 70,000 man hours and hundreds of people (including chefs, etc). It was basicaly a big thank "thank you" to the crew of the movie. Interesting, but not really worth the hour of viewing.

The scenes they cut out were all pretty good. The entire subplot of Amidala and Bail Organa (Jimy Smits) forming the rebellion was cut. All of it. Snip. Also cut was a nice bit with Anikin and Palpatine. Both Anikin and Padme are given secrets that they are instructed not to tell anyone at all under any circumstances. So there's some rationality for Anikin's jealousy. Nothing that warrants the meladrama we got, but still.

Also cut was Yoda landing on Degoba. For some reason the producer wanted to keep this. I agree with Lucas, it was dumb. Even if you see the movies in order it's not something you need to know.

It's kind of a shame really. Lucas as a producer would probably have been amazing. Pity he had to write the dialogue.

Anikin fought with an egg?

:)

Good observation about the producership. I think Lucas is better in that role, too. Bring back Lawrence Kasdan!

Too late anyway. Aw, well.

This is only vaguely on-topic (so I apologize for the thread-jack), but one thing that struck me on a repeat viewing of Sith is how much cooler and darker the plot could have been if it had played up a love triangle among Anakin, Obi-Wan, and Padme. The scene in which Obi-Wan confronts Padme and deduces that Anakin is the father of her child has just the slightest hint of this potential... what if Obi-Wan had been, uh, extra friendly towards Padme during her time of need? After all, he did help save her life a few times, and Anakin was acting all weird. What if Anakin found out about this and got jealous of Obi-Wan for trying to steal his woman? And then Anakin's sudden hatred of Padme would make more sense.

Of course, we know that Anakin really is Luke/Leia's father, but Anakin himself wouldn't necessarily have to know that... if he could suspect Obi-Wan of being the father... how much more powerful the emotion could have been!

Ah, well. Back to writing fan fiction.

Yeah, that way way too long, and had too many irrelevant bits. Like the catering crew.

Agreed. Some of the action shots could have been sacrificed to squeeze that in. It's important in terms of the overall plot of the entire saga.

Yeah, Lucas' reasoning to keep the end focused on Luke and Leia was a good one, IMO. Yoda's landing on Dagobah kind of disrupts the flow of the movie's end.

All those cut scenes should have been left in with the exception of the one they redid about the Jedi talking about forcing Palpatine out. Lucas is a great idea man but cannot direct IMO.
