Also, in the learn from past mistakes departments: Publishers if you update PDFs I don't get the updated versions unless you specifically send it to me. I know many that do this through RPGNow, and RPGNow does contact all the people who bought the PDF but it doesn't conatac the people that get comp copies. I send out books that are a month old or 4 years old, so the possibility of an old version of the PDF does get sent out for review. Also, many of you I don't have all your PDFs. If you want more reviewed this way you can send me more. But that of course is up to you. Any qwuestion about what of your I have or if I have the latest versions just e-mail me. THanks.

I couldn't find the guidelines at D20 Magazine Rack, even using Google-Fu (maybe the page is gone for good).

But, I did some other searching and found this: http://www.epinions.com/content_2844958852

Thought it might be helpful to someone else besides me.

That's a pretty good overview of things to do and don't. Playtesting is nice when possible, but its just hard to playtest things unless you have a group of friends that like that sort of thing.

Yeah, and even harder if you don't have any friends... :uhoh:

Okay, but there is a fix for that.
Heh, yeah but with all the online gaming (honestly, who games in Meridian, ID? Me. That's it. That's all), EN World posting, and now book reviews, who has time for making friends?

Sure I can go make friends. But then who will write all these wonderful reviews? :p

I found the e-opinions guidelines interesting - I feel that I've been doing a lot of those anyway, except for the non-RPG audience parts, but I'd welcome comments on my reviewing style anyway if anyone cares to give them (I use a standardised format, so its easy enough to look at any and get a feel).

In writing it is importnat to know who the audience is and in the case of EN World I think its safe to bet that the reader knows what RPGs are and what d20 is so no need in explaining it.

But some of the reviews are not for d20 products *cough*Cyradon*cough* :D so for those that are not for d20 products, it might be a very good idea to mention exactly what system they are for upfront.
