flammin' rabit poo! Hate to see what the wand of fireballs would look like. Also gives an interesting mental image of the old necklace of missiles! :D

Seriously though, I think that a lot of the direct damage spells could do with a little tweak to make them a little bit better.

Lets face it, direct damage spells are no where near as good as they were in 2e or earlier. All them critters that gained a lot of hit points has turned the trusty old fireball into a spell to lightly soften up the bad guys so that it only takes mr fighter 3 hits to finnish them instead of 4.

Still, anything that gets a wizard away from blowing everything in sight up before the rest of the party can act could be a good thing I suppose.

Well, THAT brings back memories. It's the first out-of-control-rant thread I remember on the boards, and certainly the longest. All over fireball pellets. Shudder.

Nutkin, I'm scared; hold me! :D

Heh...

That's me, resident God(dess) of confusion, gender ambiguity and nostalgia...

Did anyone see the post on wizards.com's boards about making deities based off of the Usernames of other posters?

All right, now - no porn on the 'boards!

And yes, fireballs as pellets do suXXorz. I would prefer to see balls of fire that you hurl out of your hand. Who came up with this stuff? It's a clear deviation from the way fireballs were in the first D&D!

Even I recall that thread. IIRC, I first stumbled on Eric's boards right when that thread was raging. It was a real flame war. :D
