D&D 5E Revivify - where did that come from?!?

Well, you do need 300gp of diamonds ready. It's not like you can just do it without prep.
And you need it prepped, so it's not likely to be your only 3rd level spell. Which means one less spell to use and gave ready to go.

But it is awesome.

Unless you're a life cleric, in which case you get it as an always-prepped bonus spell.

I have to say, I haven't seen it get used much in my experience. One of the PCs in my home campaign actually is a life cleric, but I think he's only used revivify once, and that was on an NPC. Mostly they've been getting reincarnated by some friendly druids when they die.

It's awesome for the player, but is it good for the game?

Honestly? I think that there's no objective answer, and instead it depends on the gaming group or even the individual campaign.

All I can say is, play with it in the game and see if cialis revivify is right for you. :)

I have problems with revivify. Among other things, it bugs the hell out of me that a spell that can revive the dead--even if only within a minute--is three levels lower than a spell that removes one level of exhaustion. :p

Here's the interesting thing - my college group was using Revivify (the 3rd level spell) back in 2nd ed. And no, I don't remember where we got it - it might have been a Dragon magazine article or something.

Killing someone has always been a bad way to kill someone in a magical world.

If you want them to stay dead you have to brutalize the body and in some cases, the soul.

If you need to have an important person die when your party has access to powerful restorative magic, then you need to do more than stick them with a butter knife.

Or, in D&D, take their stuff. They might come back, but they're so much of a threat anymore.

The other big game-changer in terms of instant saves is Healing Word, which does go back only to 4E, but can stabilize an ally (and return them to the fight) from across the room as a bonus action.
Well, there was Close Wounds in the Spell Compendium - 2nd level, Swift action, 'Close' (25 ft + 5/level) range.
