Rgr/Rog Trap disabling

If I took simply one level of rogue, and all the rest of my levels as Ranger, could I still disable traps just as well as a rogue? With one level of Rogue you get Trapfinding, which is really just based on the skill check not some Rogue level check.

This seems a little exploitable too me. With that just one level in Rogue, you are able to find traps them just as well as any rogue since Rangers get Search as a class skill and disable them pretty well too. They also get the good reflex save, Evasion at a higher level, a better BAB, better Fort Save, access to spells, they can now do cross class into UMD with decent success because of the base 4 ranks in it from Rogue, and favored enemy which works on even not sneak attackable monsters now.

Am I missing something, or is this as good a deal as it looks like?

Seems ok, but you'll never be that good as disabling the traps (Cross-class skill)...

Sure you will, if you dedicate yourself to it. You'll need to spend two skill points to get each additional rank, but since you have levels in a class for which it's a class skill, you can pump it to the same maximum skill level. Which is less painful now that Rangers get six skill points per level ...

Still using 2 skill points per rank will eat up your skill points. That would only leave you with 4 remaining. I would just alternate ranger and rogue levels. :)
