The Manual of the Planes has an Air Element template that I would love to see applied to a Giant Octopus. Basically just gets fly speed 100', good maneuverability.
Abishai are a good choice. If you have them fly and use their SLAs, they could be very dangerous. I just got through running a party through a scenario where they faced a lot of them...in 20' ceiling rooms.
