Ring of Invisibility Question

Maybe this character should invest in a Portable Hole (or bag of holding if the creature fits) if he wants to keep his presence a secret (this would cover the possesion problem).

So according to the spell description the item needs to be covered by clothing. It isn't hard to wrap your cloak around a kobold and as a theif I'm sure he's wearing a cloak. However I have to question the tactic. Wouldn't it be more effective to use a blow gun from hidding and drop the kobold so the other kobolds just see him die but cannot find the source? With how intellegent kobolds are it would probably work quite nicely to then impersonate a diety and tell them you don't want them there.

If he quickly dispatches the kobold, can he pick the corpse up and turn invisible to hide the body from other kobolds that might turn around?
Of course. A dead creature is an object, and held object become invisible with you.

Activating the ring is a standard action and picking up the kobold will probably be another standard action. Don't forget about sheathing the weapon or two he used to dispatch the kobold.

Yes he can pick up the corpse and then go invisible and carry off the corpse (although it is an odd quirk he couldn't do the same thing with an unconscious one or a willing one unless he gets them under his cloak).

Well, he was improvising.

The deity thing is funny.

Thanks everyone for the quick responses.

Borrowing a page from corny Dracula movie scripts...

The stealthy bandit, hidden from all but magical sight by his ring-granted invisibility, slowly creeps up on one of the unsuspecting Kobolds. He pulls his cloak close about his form, using his arm to cover the lower half of his face. As he moves closer, he targets his victim with a menacingly glare, delivered over his cloak-covered elbow. The bandit springs into action! His flings his cloak open and wraps his victim in it's folds, and delivers the death blow with his razor sharp fangs! ... er... I mean, dagger! The kobold slumps lifelessly in the cloaked arms of the now-visible vam... uh... bandit, who is even now trying to activate the concealing magic before the kobold's associates can piece together the circumstances. The bandit disappears, taking his cloak-enshrouded victim with him...

I'd figure the cloak action could be move-equiv, but catching the falling body might require a reflex save, and re-activating the ring would be another action (of course). A little haste magic could make this a bit more workable, I suppose. :D
