Ridiculous. That's the most absurd and tortured rules mangling I've seen in a long time here.

In the face of that, trying to paste on a meaningless duration limit, for an item that has no duration limit, is just preposterous.
In addition, what you're snipping out of the item quote is the clause "reflects spells cast at the wearer, exactly as if spell turning had been cast on the wearer." The effect is exactly like the spell, not the components or range or duration or anything else. That's exactly what I'm talking about, that items by the rules commonly share the effect of a spell but none of the other trappings.

Meaningless? Pasted on?
I contend that the duration is PART of the effect of a spell -- and Spell Turning has a duration of 10 minutes per caster level, or until discharged.
Insisting the spell makes you functionally immune to targetted spells for only 150,000gp, constantly and permanently ... is what I call preposterous ...
... and downright munchkinish.

Player: "I activate my Ring of Spell Turning"
DM: "Ok. It lasts 2 1/2 hours."
(some adventuring ensues)
Player: "Ah. DM? How long's it been?"
DM: "Hmmm, 2 hours"
Player: "Ok, I activate my Ring of Spell Turning"
DM: "Ok. It lasts 2 1/2 hours."
(some adventuring ensues)
Player: "Ah. DM? How long's it been?"
(ad nauseam)
So... What's the point of making this distinction?
