Ringtone Tops UK Music Selling Chart

There are practically no singles sold in the UK nowadays. It's entirely possible to buy the top spot. I think a number one hit single in the UK sells something like 20,000 copies. It ludicrous. The single is dead - at least until they figure out how to measure downloads.

Number of copies or revenue?

In any case - to the posters from the UK here: you should feel ashamed of your fellow citizens.

That is a catchy song though (Axel F). The movie execs thought people were going to the movie to see Eddie Murphy - nope, it was just the theme song.

The UK singles chart started including downloads on 17th April this year.

I think the vast, vast majority of singles are bought by teenagers. Adults buy albums, or download individual tracks.

The worst thing about the bl**dy frog ringtone is that it features in just about every commercial break on satelite TV...

Cheers,

Speak for yourself. I'm a fan of Eddie Murphy ... that is, until he made that movie called Coming to America.

Can't believe James Earl Jones (Vader's Voice) was in it too. :(
