Robin Hood 1x05 "Turk Flu"

Brakkart

First Post
The Nottingham Fair arrives bringing with it the lure of the archery competition. But Robin must resist temptation until he has dealt with the Sheriff's move to buy Saracen slave labour for his mine.

I'm interested/cautious to see what this show is going to be like without the Merry Man who was killed last week as Royston was my favourite character thus far. Why oh why couldn't they have killed Much instead? *sigh*

Another really good episode. This show has clearly hit it's stride.

My only slight gripe would be with the supposedly-intelligent Sheriff and Guy refusing to shore up the mine properly. Surely that's more cost-effective than the attrition in workers?

Still, there's certainly a lot of historical precedent for that sort of thing, so I can't really object that much.

Interesting that this series has now followed a recent (in relative terms anyway) trend in depicting the Merry Men in having a Saracen/Moor amongst their number. First Robin of Sherwood has Nazir, then Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves has Azeem and now this new band has Djaq/Sofia.

Nice to see how they worked in the traditional legend of the Archery Contest and the famous silver arrow into this version of the tale. Now if only they could work in Friar Tuck somehow... Maybe they're saving him for if they get a second season?

Why would they NOT include Friar Tuck, he was always one of the most essential and interesting Characters...?

Where did you hear that the show will not include Friar Tuck?

P.S.: While I did find it great that they had the courage to permanently kill one (interesting) character, I do not like the replacement at all :(

P.P.S.: The new take on the archery was very interesting and more logical than the original one 8D

I know. But I live in hope that they might change their minds cos I really can't see any good reason for not having the character in the show.

I think they would be hard pressed to change their minds, given that they've already filmed all thirteen episodes. :) They have mentioned the possibility of bringing him in if they get a second season.
