Let's say one wanted to build a trapmonkey that wasn't a rogue. The only prereqs are perception and thievery skills (to be able to find and disable said traps). Ideas:
1. Warlock (add perception skill).
Would prolly take a CON-based pact, so CHR and WIS won't compete. Still, INT and DEX will be competing, regardless.
2. Ranged ranger (add rogue multiclass).
Downgrading to crossbow (d8 vs. d10 from longbow) for that 1/encounter sneak-attack opportunity seems like too much. But nice CON/DEX/WIS combo.
3. 2WF ranger (add rogue multiclass).
At least one weapon must be light (for sneak attacks), so likely longsword/shortsword or longsword/dagger (in case a ranged sneak attack presents itself), but blowing a feat on rapier seems like the obvious choice (paired rapiers, anyone?). 2WF and 2WD feats also seem like gimmies. CON will be low, but 2WF rangers get toughness.
4. Fighter (add rogue multiclass and perception skill).
Would prolly need to blow feat on rapier and pair it with a heavy shield. DEX will compete with CON. Most likely human (to pick up bonus feat and skill).
Other ideas? Racial suggestions (with 1/2ling, 1/2elf, elf, and human being the obvious choices)? Paragon suggestions (rogue multiclass opens up those paragons)?
