Rogues and Two Weapon Fighting

I think two weapon would be Really sweet for the fighter because with it he could mark 2 enemies every round and double his enemy locking skills.

The paladin has some powers that get better with the greater amount of enemies around him so i think it could be good for him as well.

Fighters also have access to some juicy feats for weapons but im not sure if they would work with the atwill twf attacks.

And if you do want to represent Artemis Entreri as a game construct in 4ed D&D, he isn't a ranger or a fighter. He's a monster. You can give him whatever abilities you need. :D

Beaten to it, but yeah, Entreri is definitely a monster. For that matter, so is Drizzt.

Not unless this was in Unearthed Arcana. The 1e ranger had no 2WF abilities in the PHB. In fact, if you look at other rangers in D&D fiction that were based on 1e, they typically fight with things like greatswords or sword-and-shield.

Actually, not even with Unearthed Arcana. UA introduced weapon specialization and requirements (ranger must be proficient in sword, bow/crossbow, spear/axe, and dagger/knife before specializing in other weapons), but TWF as part of the ranger class did not appear until the 2E PHB. And since Drizzle first appeared while 1E was going strong (and drow did have TWF as of 1E UA) ... you have your answer.

First off, "No it's a monster" is a horrible argument. One of the admittingly guilty pleasures of 3e was the ability to take just about ANY fictional character and be able to stat them out. You can't do that in 4e. Just making them a monster is an excuse.

Secondly, man is my sig ever relevant.

I want to say it dates to that TWF article in Dragon (reprinted in Best of Dragon Vol 4 I think - the silver one) but I don't have it at hand to confirm that.

Er... You ARE aware that 4E rangers can choose to not even take nature as a trained skill? That they have no inherent woodsman abilities at all now, and are in fact just the striker flavour of the 3E fighter now?

I'm sure you are - this point has been made in several threads you've posted in.

That being the case, your sig strikes me as disingenuous.

Yep. Drow in 1E had TWF and Rangers didn't. When 2E came around, the fact that Drizzt was a Ranger gave enough excuse for Rangers to be given the ability after the fact, so that other people playing Rangers could be more like him. Nothing wrong with that, IMO. But it's a poor reason to restrict an ability to one Class.

Somewhat related, from what I gather scanning the posts, it sounds like no one besides rangers can qualify for the ranger paragon paths? Is that correct? So you cannot get a rogue/ranger with the TWF feat that could take the Stormwarden PP?

I like this perspective, now a ranger, maybe with a dash of rogue would make for an excellent swashbuckler/duelist type..
