Rolling for stats. Need some advice

Hey guys, I got a dilemma I need some help with l. We all know about rolling for stats 4d6 drop the lowest, but a lot of my players are not having fun due to the being restricted with their low rolls and a few suffering with negative modifiers. So I was thinking about letting the group reroll their stats. How would you guys resolve this issue by allowing the players decent stats. I was thinking when they roll 6 times their total have to be greater or equal to a certain number, or they can reroll any 1s or 2s. What do you guys think?

You know what, you actually give me a great idea. I don't quite like just roll 2D6 and add 6 because i still leaves an opening for a negative modifier to be applied, in which I am trying to prevent. So I am going to advance on your idea, or the idea in PH2. How about this. Each player will roll 2D6+6 like you had said, however if a player rolls a 1, then they get to reroll that dice. So at the very worst situation they get a 10 on their ability score by rolling 2+2+6.

Thank you very much on your help.

Here's my thinking:
Most people who like to roll say that point buy is for powergamers who like to have high stats and that the risk inherent in the game of chance that is throwing dice for stats is fun.

That may be true, but if you're considering modifying your dice rolling so that you will get high stats and eliminate the chance for negative modifiers... why not just go for point buy?

Absolutely nothing with wrong with point buy, I am offering my players a choice between point buy or rolling. Majority usually chooses rolling, which brings us this topic to attention.

Well how much point buy do you offer? If it's really low, no wonder they choose rolling.

Just use 32 point buy. The spellcasters can pretty much afford a 16-18 in their casting stat no matter what point buy you use, using a high one helps the noncasters out. A lot.
