Roper: CR 12 with SR 30?

For 12+ level warrior type characters, making DC 18 saves are usually relatively easy. Even single-classed ones should have base save of +8. With bonuses from con and magic items, they will easily avoid strength damages. That will become much easier for paladins or multi-classed warrior types.

Also, sundering the strands should be not difficult. As that act does not provoke AoO from roper, even warriors without Improved Sunder feat can easily cut a strand in a single blow.

I am curious how 17th-level party cannot kill it easily.

I am curious how 17th-level party cannot kill it easily.

It was a screwy 'low magic' campaing an the party had no magic items, and the wizard had his spell book stolen.

That might be it. Still, they must've gotten bad rolls or something.
