FORGE RING - Item Creation - out you go. Useless? Hell no. TOO USEFUL? Absolutely. I don't want my players to be able to do this.
Well - the real question is whether you would feel the same if your party is about to be webbed. Web is a tactically devastating spell which totally alters the attack of the party. There is no real REF "save" for Web. It impedes your players by a matter of degree only - be they 3rd or 16th level no matter the saving throw.
Are you using Stinking Cloud as a spell to cover your flank, or save it to counterspell a Web?
Another point is whether the enemy spellcasters are burning off Wall of Fire and Fire Shield to counter your party's fireball spell. These events change the big battle as it unfolds in a substantial way. All the plans of rush to point A. take out the mooks at B and punch through to BBEGs at C are totally changed when the fireballs fail to work or the Web spell does/does not go off.
Alot of the comments here seem to be coming from a player perspective. I approach is as a DM - how I equip my NPC's first, how my party develops their feats second and what feats I hate as a DM for my players to take.
