Rapid Reload. This feat is always inferior to Martial Weapon Proficiency: Longbow.

Rapid reload is a good feat. It's helpful for hand crossbows. The goal is not always maximum damage output. Sometimes you want a compact weapon that will do the trick. Shoot more drow-poisoned bolts with Rapid Reload. Long Bows do poorly in the crampt Underdark caves!

Next round I might also support ditching Forge Ring, but only if you roll that pup into Craft Wonderous Item.

Bah. Craft Wondrous Item is up there AFTER Forge Ring.

(A PC Making their own Potions and Scrolls is pushing it already.)

Craft Staff

Spreads out the item creation feats over somewhat arbitrary categories by form rather than by function.

Ideally, Craft Wand and Craft Staff would be rolled into one single feat that covered all limited-charge items: Craft Charged Item, or something like. Then have the item creation have guidelines of Wands do X and have X requirements, Staffs do Y and have Y requirements, etc.

I have never, ever seen anyone take Craft Staff as a feat. I've seen Craft Wand now and then, and Craft Rod once in a blue moon, but never Craft Staff. Ever.

Craft Staff is really sweet if you are actually a decent caster because it lets you use your own DCs and Caster Level

Players in my campaign don't make magic items and they don't buy them (there is no "Ye old Magic Shoppe").

They find magic items, and seldom at that, during the adventure as treasure.

So making magic items is pushing it. A PC making their own Potions and scrolls is barely tolerable to me. I draw the line there; that far, no further.

Call me old fashioned *shrug*

You'd think the gravitation would be more toward thrown weapons then, given the terrain restriction. Even easier to use, given that you only need one hand to draw and fire, rather than needing to use your second hand to reload a hand crossbow.

Rapid Reload. I forgot that made it into core. On a related matter, Exotic Weapon: Repeating Crossbow is perhaps worse.
