Makes sense however, since the majority of D&D players in general either choose to play as their favorite anime character or as their idealized waifu/husbando.

No change there then, except it was their favourite Sword and Sorcery character or idealized wife/husband in say 1989.

I didn't realize that when I posted it. I just keep hearing folks comparing Strixhaven to Harry Potter, when they almost have nothing in common above the surface level.

It's the main fraternity in Animal House, but I was asking in regards to Strixhaven.

The colleges in stryxhaven are not frats. They are different schools inside the bigger institution. Each focusing on using magic in a different way. They could be summarized (in a very shallow way) as alchemists, scientists/mathematitians, archeologists/historians, artists/performers and poets/writers.

True, but someone enterprising on dmsguild could add fraternities and other such groups to Strixhaven if they add Strixhaven and Arcavios to dmsguild allowable settings.

I doubt it'll happen, but I do long for the day when Stryxhaven or Brakebills becomes the magical school everyone knows and references, not Hogwarts. I'd certainly rather be a Prismari theatre geek than wonder why a hat put me in Slytherin.
