The colleges in stryxhaven are not frats. They are different schools inside the bigger institution. Each focusing on using magic in a different way. They could be summarized (in a very shallow way) as alchemists, scientists/mathematitians, archeologists/historians, artists/performers and poets/writers.
I know. I was having a bit of fun with the comparison to Animal House. Oh well. 🤷‍♂️

what in the nine hells is a frat even for anyway?
Answering that is another minefield.

You got to learn how to compartmentalize.
Eh, overrated. The world is so full of great art, not consuming the stuff made by people who espouse views that lead to actual harm to real people won’t deprive me of anything I need to experience.

I'm excited with the direction D&D is heading! And I am, as always, grateful to have a space to discuss gaming where bigotry isn't welcome.
Hell yeah.

Also, I love that Strixhaven, and some actual play games, and other media, are all expanding the sub genre beyond the work of the infamous TERF.

I havent been following Strixhaven that closely. A bit here and there on EN World and the product description. Is it possible that we may see a better representation of traditional specialist wizards in this book in regards to the schools of magic and archetypes?

I think not in subclasses. Stryxhaven is not a Wizard school, it's a magic school. There are many kinds of spellcasters in it. So I think there will be options giving some spells and features representing the colleges, but not any specialist wizard.

If you are interested, there are some short stories made in stryxhaven from when the mtg set came out....

just scroll down and chose stryxhaven. There are 5 chapters of the main story in the set and 5 smaller stories with other people who go to the school.
