RPG Collecting

Does anybody actually have a list of all D&D procucts ever released? I'd be interested in such a list, particularly a 3e/3.5e list.
While I doubt it's complete, especially regarding things released in the early days of D&D, there's a pretty good list of D&D stuff at http://users.rcn.com/aardy/rate/ . Notably,
it does not cover any third-party stuff except Judges Guild Mk I (that is, the old stuff, not the new stuff released through Necromancer).

So what are the collection stories for others and what are the collections like? Thanks.

I tend to collect non d20 RPG's which I think are cool, but don't get to play. I started this before 3.0 came out with 47 GURPs books and just about every Classic Traveller and some Mega Traveller stuff published. Add to that some TNE stuff. Also I have nearly every Morrow Project book published. I had all the Twlight 2000 stuff but gave it to a friend of mine to complete his collection. I have most of the Rifts books too. Although now I can say that I'm sure I wont play that system again and I won't miss it.

The biggest part of my 2e AD&D collection is nearly every FR game supplement and boxed set. Some of them like the North amd Lands of Intrigue I have on .pdf. I have some spelljammer and Dragonlance stuff but those items aren't as nearly as large as my FR collection. I never really got into 2e so I don't have a huge collection of 2e stuff. I gave my cousin my 1e stuff when I was 18 so I have most of the 1e material as well, which I got off of Ebay. I have about 30 of the WOTC/TSR FR, Dragonlance and Greyhawk novels.

I have a few 3rd party d20 things but tend to stick to WOTC stuff now.

A friend of mine thinks I'm kinda "bad" but another friend of ours has every White Wolf (Vampire, Mage, Werewolf and Faerie) and Shadowrun 2nd edition book published.

Miniatures are a big thing for me these days.

When I had the space, I used to collect various game systems like Hero, GURPS, etc... but when I moved from a 3 bedroom to a 2 bedroom sans dining room... well, let's just say that it gave me a new perspective.

Does your book collection include "Shared Fantasy," by Gary Alan Fine?
Yes, indeed.

I cited that book... Pretty interesting, if a bit dated. Well worth tracking down.
I agree and that's not just my opinion as a gamer, I have a doctorate in sociology (and politics). Col Pladoh has expressed some reservations about Fine's book though.

Incidentally, would Dragon or Dungeon be interested in an article about books on RPGs? If so, I'm your man. :D You can drop me an e-mail at afsimkin@hotmail.com.

Hope to hear from you. ;)

Playing Warhammer IS a collection!!!

Those canny Brits have managed to attach a vaccum cleaner to my bank account with every addition. All I want is an Empire army to dominate and plunder. Is that so wrong?

In terms of D&D: I try to tell myself that if it's a PDF, it doesn't count.

It's been my observation that there are a lot of obsessive personalities playing RPG's, mine included. Now that I'm in my upper mid 30's I find that my income has increased to the point that it has fed my obsession with RPG's to an unhealthy level. I've posted in a few other threads and hinted at having a large collection. I have well over 200 3.0 hardbacks, and literally thousands of over RPG books and materials collected over a span of 26 years of gaming. I don'te ever rid myself of ANY rpg products I've purchased intentionally.

I run games, and I've received a lot of posititve reinforcement from my friends whom I game with over the years, which has certainly fed my love for storytelling... and consequentially reinformced my obsession with RPG collecting. There are some games I've collected just because I enjoy reading them, such as Rifts (great game setting, abysmal system), and Forgotten Realms. Currently the only game I collect and don't play is the Midnight Campiagn setting, its beautifully written.

I purchase GURPS material because I personally feel the GUPRS worldbooks and particuarly the historical books are brilliant, and I prefer the GURPS system to D20, though currently I'm only running D20 fantasy games (on in Forgotten Reals, the other in Kalamar - another brilliant setting).

After 26 years of gaming, I adore sitting at my desk in my game room and looking over at my five book cases of games and just remembering the thousands of hours of great gaming memories that rest upon them. Some people watch fish to relax, I lay out on one of the couches in here and read game books. ;)

Edit: I'm scaling back my RPG purchases now. This last month I invested over $200 in rpg books and when I balanced my accounts I realized that this money is much better spent elsewhere. At what point is enough.. well, enough?

I'm not sure if I count as a collector, I've certainly got more RPG's than I'm ever going to be able to Roleplay in a lifetime. I do have some sets of things, and I doubt I'll part with any of my collection, but I don't buy routinely, and certainly since I've got married, got a house and a kid, my money generally goes on more important things.
