[RPG] Creating Monsters!

Yeah, his PHP coding is great. His game design talents not so.

I mentioned the possibility of modding it to a class/level system, and his response was "I think that sounds very odd". Huh? Odd? Guess he hasn't played many RPGs if he's never heard of class based systems.

How about now?
Nope, he still gets no EXP when I 1-hit kill him. Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be an option I can select that won't 1 hit-kill him to test if he gains experience if not 1 hit killed, you should probably recruit someone at level 2 or 3 to test that.

Alright, I think I know how to explain my confusion on summons to you.

Were you saying that you plan to eventually add more summons, or that summons gradually change? Both are cool in their own right (leveling my Summon:Wight spell to beat your Balrog for instance).

The way you stated it though, it sounded like you couldn't control the cost of casting a summon spell, like that if you had a higher level creature to summon it still would have cost 100 MP.

I can add new summons, and even assign them different MP costs, but I have no control over their stats. They always have the same stats. Apparently that will change in later versions of the software.

I just fought him and he gained XP. The fight lasted about 3 rounds. Dunno how to fix the one-hit kill thing, though.

I'm going to attach the file for anyone who thinks they may understand it. Perhaps some things can be changed/fixed.

You'd have to alter the code so that each round alternates who goes first, with initiative in the first round being 50/50.

Just downloaded the code.

I can read it, it's fairly close to English (more so than C anyway). I think that given a couple of weeks, I could get to the point of being able to implement initiative (need to go find a site on PHP, but I'd have no way of testing my changes.)
