- WHY SPOTLIGHT THIS CAMPAIGN? This is a new take on the zombie apocalypse, it offers something refreshing: Hope. The zombie outbreak just started. It’s not the 9th ending, civilization is still in the pregame; at this stage, the outbreak could be contained, the world as we know it could carry on, there just has to be a push to succeed. The game comes from an all-star team of creators (Cat Evans, Erin H. Rea, and Cody Faulk) with stretch goals to add more. If you want a different take on the zombie apocalypse, one in which the players of your roleplaying game might win and save the day, this could be the right book for your table.

- WHY SPOTLIGHT THIS CAMPAIGN? Bryan Donihue brings his World of Incursion near-future urban fantasy series to tabletop with a second edition of his setting and original d20 system. Monsters hunt humanity. You hunt the monsters. No classes or levels, your advancement is based on improving skills. This is the second edition of the RPG, it offers refined character creation, skills, faith abilities, and smoother combat. If you want an RPG by the author of the books, I’m going to imply the same here as I did with When the Wolf Comes above, this is worth checking out for its authentic voice.

- WHY SPOTLIGHT THIS CAMPAIGN? Don’t just slay the monster, take their powers. If you’ve ever thought it’d be cool to add some 5e monster’s ability to your character’s, this is the book for you. This book picks specific monsters, offering rules for how to take their powers and level into those abilities. This is a clever path because the powers don’t break the overall leveling system, providing more balance then you might expect. If you think monster hunting for power sounds fun, this is worth checking out.

It’s not an adventure, but an experience, and one that will speak to certain GMs. If you’re a fan of 5e and lovely adventures, this is worth pursuing. Also, this is the “last mini-quickstarter for a while, as [EN Publishing has] something big coming up on August 30th.” If you’ve been waiting for all of the books to drop, this is a good point to catch up.

- WHY SPOTLIGHT THIS CAMPAIGN? I struggled with how to present this genre mashup so fans can understand how cool this could be. It’s hardboiled detective Troika! If you know Troika!, then you know weird does not begin to summarize where these adventures can go. Add in the hardboiled detective format and you’ll either fall into the group that feels this is a work of underappreciated genius or Troika! is not your jam. At over 100 pages of weird detective work, I expect this to be a great time, one that you’ll think back on over and over again. If you’re a Troika! fan, check out the campaign page.
