  • SYSTEM(S): An original system
  • PROJECT TYPE: Core rulebook
  • MOST POPULAR PLEDGE: $30 for the PDF as well as a community copy of the game
“A core rulebook and setting guide for the fantasy world of Mnemonic. This Weaver's Almanac is a 180-page book that contains everything you need, from the game's core rules to a host of usable setting content, to play a full story—or numerous connected stories—in the world of Mnemonic. Keep reading to see what we're up to. The world of Mnemonic is a world of memory: flawed, eternal, ephemeral, evolving memory. Stand on a hillside, and you can feel the world remembering themselves, remembering the smell of grass that is no longer there. Climb to the top of a tree and feel her swaying beneath you, creaking under the memories of storms that once tried to pull her up by the roots. Those who can sense the world's memory are called Weavers. In Mnemonic, we don't play as heroes in a story; we play the Weavers who have gathered to tell those heroes' stories.”

A Maestro and two players (Gun and Slinger) set out into a dead planet mutated by a god's forgotten child and hunt strange bounties, investigate the world, and unlock hidden powers. During play, they seek to learn the nature of what’s hunting the Slinger, figure out why the Gun is sentient, and discover how the world died.”

Dealing With Your Demons- An Adventure in Two Parts.png

Dealing With Your Demons: An Adventure in Two Parts from High Level Games :dndnext:
  • END DATE: Wed, September 16 2020 10:41 AM EDT.
  • SYSTEM(S): Dungeons & Dragons Fifth Edition
  • PROJECT TYPE: Adventure module
  • MOST POPULAR PLEDGE: $10 for the PDF and POD of the book
  • NOTE: I freelance for High Level Games
  • NOTE TWO: I interviewed Josh Heath of High Level Games at d20 Radio (here)
“An awesome OGL adventure in two parts. Dealing With Your Demons allows an adventuring party to make a grave mistake… Dealing With Your Demons is a 16,000 word (around 40 pages) 5E OGL adventure in two-parts. Part One is designed for levels 1-4 and Part Two is designed for levels 4-8. The first part of the adventure has the party delving into a classic dungeon, intent on rooting out long lost treasures. However, things are not quite what they seem and the demon the party destroys in the first act may be something quite different from what they are led to believe. The adventure is designed to be placed into any setting, though it does present a city, Par-Lar Dur, and some locations that can be modified to meet many needs. At its heart, Dealing With Your Demons is a story about cultural misunderstanding and colonialism, but told through a classic dungeon crawling lens. It's also a story about kobolds, one of my favorite species in all fantasy RPGs.”

So, this is a weird one. They are asking people to finance their company to help them launch their products. Their first product is scheduled to be launched via Kickstarter according to their FAQ. This seems like a kickstarter to set up a kickstarter.

Just struck me as odd...

Goes back to the joke of launching an Indiegogo campaign to create the video for a Kickstarter campaign. Still, it's not my place to tell others how to run their crowdfunding campaigns or how to plan our their projects, and I wish them luck.

I though that the "Complete Curse of Roslof Keep Campaign" looked pretty cool until I got to the extremely gratuitous pic 'Elsa at the hot springs outside of Roslof Keep... '. Well, you lost me there - there's really no need for that. :cautious:

I wasn't a fan of that sort of art 20+ years ago. I am shocked that even today we see this sort of artwork created for games.

I use stock art for the majority of my personal projects and there are more times than I would like where I cannot use an illustration because of the cheesecakiness of it.

ART!

Deluxe Unhuman
Twilight:2000 4e closed with over 5 million SEK and 8000 backers. (Over US$600,000, or 460,000 UK£)... Not bad for a nearly 40 year old game set in a former future that was avoided.

Yeah, the success of that is pretty interesting - and cool! I almost backed it myself, even though I'm pretty sure my group would never go in for it.

I'd love to know how much of that success is due nostalgia for the original (or similar games) among older gamers, and how much is other factors.

Regardless, kudos to them!

I know a bunch of guys are going to be sorely disappointed at the lack of granularity... and others who will be complaining about the excessive details.
FL has said the detail level is lower than the older editions. Which I have. And I could run easily enough if I wanted to.

I want that kind of setting, tho', and not those older rules, so I'm excited for the much lighter mechanics of YZE.
