RPG Crowdfunding News – Salvage Union, Slasher Zine, Webworld, and more

This week, I look at RPGs that end between December 31st and January 5th, all closing out near New Years. Their are original systems, accessories, and more to check out. As always, I’m not covering all of the RPG options, just a selection, many of which are quickstarters, that end soon.

Salvage Union KS.jpg

Salvage Union from Leyline Press
  • END DATE: Wed, January 5 2022 8:55 AM EST.

A post-apocalyptic world of corporate controlled cities, dust bowl wastes for the masses, and you, the pilots and your mechs eking out an existence after the world ended. This core rulebook offers over 300 pages of options like 20+ mechs, modifications, 12 classes of pilots to play, bestiary, and NPCs. If you’re interested in mechs in the waste, check out the campaign page to get the free quickstart rules.

Webworld- A TTRPG guide to the spider Apocalypse.jpg

Webworld: A TTRPG guide to the spider Apocalypse from NeonRot
  • END DATE: Sun, January 2 2022 4:47 PM EST.
  • SYSTEM(S): An original system
  • PROJECT TYPE: Core rulebook
  • MOST POPULAR PLEDGE: £14 for the PDF and print versions of the book
  • WHY SPOTLIGHT THIS CAMPAIGN? A rules lite, no combat RPG is a breath of fresh air in the world of combat centric RPGs. In this one, the apocalypse came and the culprits were spiders! Giant spiders roam the earth waiting to lure you into their webs. The last of humanity wear webs and hide from the giant spiders and their Hosts, humans filled with venom and spider eggs. Here’s where this gets interesting, if you look past the pulp sci-fi concepts, the RPG offers an interesting dynamic, you don’t fight the spiders, you sneak past them. That’s right, this is a stealth RPG. At 22 pages, there’s a lot to cover in that space, the world, the system, and the goals, but it’s an interesting concept worth checking out. If you want to play a rules lite stealth based RPG set in a setting out of a 1950s/1960s B-movie, Webworld awaits.

  • WHY SPOTLIGHT THIS CAMPAIGN? Need attractions to fill your city? Need NPCs to populate the streets and stores? Creatures for a zoo? Random urban details from random tables? Maps? Yeah, all cities need maps. This book fills in the gap when you reach a new city and you need to throw town against the wall to see what sticks. If you’re looking for easy fill-in cityscapes, this book has pregenerated elements and the tools to create more.

Slasher Zine- A Two-Volume Zine for MÖRK BORG.jpg

Slasher Zine: A Two-Volume Zine for MÖRK BORG from Michael Mars Gaming
  • END DATE: Wed, January 5 2022 11:59 PM EST.
  • SYSTEM(S): MÖRK BORG
  • PROJECT TYPE: RPG zines
  • MOST POPULAR PLEDGE: $35 + $7 S/H in the US for the PDFs and print versions of both zines
  • WHY SPOTLIGHT THIS CAMPAIGN? Because it’s the holidays and you need some MÖRK BORG, naturally. Created as a Slasher Jam from which 20 entries were collected and shared here in two volumes. Volume one is 60 pages of crunch, classes, monsters, and more for MÖRK BORG. Volume two is 80 pages and contains the adventures. As a Jam-come-to-Kickstarter, the project pays each creator $10 per page plus another dollar a page for every grand past $2000 (so $12 per page as of this writing or $1,680 of the total raised with the rest going to printing, shipping, etc). If you’re looking for a MÖRK BORG with slashers from a collection of creators, this is worth a look.

If you’re looking for humanity meets pre-history with lost civilizations and 5e options, check this campaign out. But the real reason I’m excited about this project is that this is Chamomile Has Adventures 11th RPG zine Kickstarter since February 2021. That’s a massive number of zines in such a short period of time. If you’re interested in seeing nearly a year of zines month after month, check out their page to see all that they’ve done.

  • SYSTEM(S): Dungeons & Dragons Fifth Edition

  • WHY SPOTLIGHT THIS CAMPAIGN? Because it fills a gap in 5e: Games of chance. Need to gamble in your adventures? This bolt-on system offers ten different dice based game options, with rules for cheating. Yes, cheating! Every good game needs rules for bilking the other players and NPCs out of their hard won earnings! Obviously! If you want to add a game within your game so your players have the chance to play as rules lawyers instead of being rules lawyers, this supplement may provide both a challenge and a good time for everyone at the table.

Same as the others said. I saw the head/pilot compartment and immediately thought was why a Star Wars supplement was on Kickstarter. I see some legal action coming against the company/artist.
