RPG Mall sucks

I'm guessing general is the right place for disgruntled customers to post something.

On May 25th, I saw a note about how RPG Mall was giving away a copy of Guildcraft to the first 50 orders. So I go there and see if there is anything I want to buy, because Guildcraft is a book I want.

I noticed they have the Village of Briarton for sale there. That's another book I've wanted, so I figure, even though the price sucks, what the heck, since I'll be getting two books I want, it won't be so bad. So I put an order in for that. I'm not sure if I was in the first 50 orders or not, but after processing my order, my number is 39, so I assume I am. (39 being less than 50).

Silly me thinks they have the books they sell in stock, and I'd expect the books within a week or so. But I don't get anything in the mail for 10 days. So, I figure, the heck with this, and emailed customer service asking to cancel my order if they hadn't already shipped. (If I wanted to wait and wait and wait, I'd have ordered from Amazon)

I never hear back, so silly me (once again) thinks it was cancelled. As I also never get anything in the mail.

Then on monday, the 16th, I get an email from RPGMall saying my order has shipped. "D'oh!" I think, as I had just bought the Village of Briarton on ebay. But then I think, "Oh well, at least I get Guildcraft" , which I was looking forward to.

But today, what arrives? Briarton, but instead of Guildcraft, I get Darwin's World. Darwin's World. Argh! While it's not a bad book, I already have it, and there's no way I'll ever be able to get rid of it, as there is now a second edition. They promised they'd send Guildcraft to the first 50 orders. It's not my fault they took 3 weeks to fill it. Argh!!!!!!!!!!!

So anyway, don't order from RPGMall on the basis of their giveaway - they'll rip you off if they can. And don't expect quick (or good) service.

I've never dealt with them (I have ordered several times through the ENworld shop though, are the two connected?), but have you considered e-mailing/claling them with the problem? They may be slow to respond, but you might end up with your copy of Guildcraft at least.

Thanks for the heads up. So far, in the several years I've been ordering online from various online stores, I have yet to have a really bad experience. I think your situation would qualify as a really bad experience.

Uh, did you try contacting them to see if they would resolve the issue? I know I'd want a second chance to keep a customer if I screwed up.

Edit: I'm blind and didn't see Arravis' post. :)

Yes, ENWorld Shop, RPGshop.com and RPGMall and RPGNow are all one in the same... which gives you all some prospective...

I dealt with this in private in a timely manner (once I actually got an email)... not sure why this is going public. People never seem to realise that an internet filled with spam and abused servers can sometimes have an email get lost. There was a report somewhere that 15% of all email never reaches its destination.

We were delayed by the publisher supplying us with the book. MEDIA Mail took forever from Calafornia to us. Anyway, the customer WAS notified.

We had a person on vacation last week when the books came in and I guess the wrong "FREE" book was included in the order. For that we said we were sorry and offered to send him the proper free book at our cost and even toss in one more on top of it. Leaving him with 4 new books for which only one was paid for.

If that's not acceptable response and appology I donno what to say other then sorry.

Ah, I have done business with RPGShop recently and was satisfied with a speedy delivery. I think that was the order I placed for Midnight and the FFG Dungeoneer's book.

Gee--

RPGMall sounds like the kindo of business I'd like to do business with in the future.

A representitive of RPGMall just posted, saying they would have resolved the matter and send him two free books and in addition apologized.

That sounds like a good deal. Maybe trancejeremy, you were a too soon in complaining about RPGMall. They seem like a respectable business, and a bunch of crap just happened to happen and you got a little bit of it.

If this sort of thing happened more than once, then I would be wary of ever purchasing products from them again. But once and then they come on and offer to correct the problem and apologize? That doesn't sound like a sucky business.

completely satisfied

I've been lurking here for some time and this spurred me to post. I've ordered several times from RPGshop(at least once a month for the last year or so). I have absolutely no complaints about them. In all of my orders there have only been two mistakes, both of which were handled immediately, with courteous emails. Sounds like you were having a bad day.
