Lake of Dust (OSR) | Lake of Dust (D&D 5E) | Dwarven Fiasco (OSR) | Dwarven Fiasco (D&D 5E) by Frog God Games
  • SYSTEM: OSR/Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition
  • PRODUCT TYPE: softcover adventures
  • RETAIL PRICE: $25 each
  • DESCRIPTION: Lake of Dust is an adventure for a party of fifth level characters. An ancient, dried-up lake is home to a clan of insular gnolls. The dead lake also hides the ruins of strange, forgotten temples, places that even the ferocious gnolls fear to tread. Once the PCs have won the gnolls’ respect (or at least their tolerance), the ruins lie open for exploration. Dwarven Fiasco is a location-based adventure for a party of four to sixth level characters. High in their cliff-face temples, the dwarven sages watched the plague roll in from the west. They pooled their resources but failed to save their people. The dwarves, secluded behind their walls in Cleft, survived the plague, even as it devastated the dwarven population of the northern reaches and the temple. Guilt drove the dwarven elders to set down their tools. Cowed by loss and failure, the remaining sages made no attempt to reclaim their temple complex — but it seems an evil is gaining strength within its depths. Perhaps the PCs can bring courage back to this part of the world.

The description of Dwarven Fiasco is oddly phrased: "They pooled their resources but stray light from a distant star pierced their magic circle."

I have no idea what that means. Any suggestions?

They sealed themselves away from the plague and had enough resources to survive until the star did something something something. The sentence you quoted needed to be split in two for clarity.

I did some more research. Still have no idea. I thought at first that some evil from the stars had arrived, but that isn't it. It seems the dwarven ritual failed regardless of what caused it, so I clarified it to that.
