D20 Modern Adventure Series

I'm working on a series of adventures for use with the Treasure Hunter setting, a D20 Modern Campaign Option in development from Emerald Press. The first three of these will premiere at Gen Con Indy this summer, and should be available for others shortly thereafter.

For those who are interested, more information will be available at

in the near future.

Ah, I was actually refering to Member Enabled stuff. I might have gotten confused because I got the impressions that some of these devoted volunteers happen to be RPGA members AND employees (or close friends) to these 3rd party publishers. Ergo, they have more of a personal stake in making the living experiement successful than your average fan on the street who thinks the settings are the coolest.

Living Spycraft, managed by AEG, is the exception, not the rule.

The only Living Campaigns wholly run by the RPGA are Living Greyahwk, Living Force, and Legacy of the Green Regent. The others (Living Death, Arcanis, Kalamar, etc.) are termed "Member Enabled" campaigns, which means that they are run by devoted volunteers. Just about all the scenarios are written by RPGA members/Living players, not publishers. This is true even of Living Spycraft, I think...all their staff is volunteer, and they welcome new writers from their player base.

So, since d20 Modern is a WotC product and I doubt they are keen on starting up another Living campaign, it would be up to eager volunteers like yourselves to prepare a plan, organize, and present your proposal to the RPGA for sanctioning.

It could work.

OK then here is my question to that, if someone or company started building d20 Modern focused adventures that were serial in nature and the serials would run for a year and evolve and change each year, what people be interested in that? Basically the adventures you play build the storyline that affects the upcoming year's events. And we find a way to make the adventure very inexpensive or even free. Would that be enough to get people interested enough to help out? Any comments would be appreciated.

Depending upon the style and setting of the campaign, I might very well be interested in contributing to an ongoing series of adventures.

It's been asked for. The head of the RPGA Ian Richards has said no, a few months ago, since people don't play the D20 modern classics, the RPGA assumes that no one would play the "Living" campaign.

"Classics" is a term which comes from the original type of modules offered at cons. They were a one shot adventure (or maybe a couple con slots) which provided per-generated characters. Thus they are known as classics, as opposed to those of the "Living" variety which is based on a character which is created by the player and is carried from game to game.

As for the notion of a "Living D20 Modern", well I wouldn't be optimistic. There hasn't been a whole lot of success in getting RPGA to go with member run campaigns anymore. As it is they've killed quite a few of them. I would recommend maybe trying a different sanctioning type organization if you really want to do it.

Though as for myself, I don't care much for the ruleset.

Well, what if they were wrong? What if the adventures they but out we only "OK" adventures? It seems to me that there are people out there playing d20 Modern and there are companies who want to support it. Why couldn't someone get together with the companies and have them work together to build a "Living" type adventures series? It just seem a little odd that if Living Spycraft could do it why not d20 Modern?

So there were some one-shot d20 Modern game done at cons? I could be wrong, but I don't see the same audeince for one-shots vs. Living. I know some Living Arcanis boys and they wouldn't dare waste time on a one-shot if L.A. was going on.

And no offence, but for me a one-shot is a one-shot. A classic either has to have some real history behind it, or be something that impresses me to the point that I know it wil have some longevity.
