Bloody extra time!

Aargh!

My cousins in England are going to be gloating for four years. My cousins in Wales are going to start giving their address as "Monmouthshire" instead of "Gwent".

Who taught the bloody Poms to play Rugby?

Credit where credits due, England played a fine match and Aus pushed them hard into extra time.

Tries a piece and Jonny played well around the field. Sure enough all the idle talk was silenced by good rugby. Heck the teams both played well around the field. I actually enjoyed the final, especially the hotly contested set pieces (I think that's the foundation of Eng's victory). I'm still hurting over our semi exit :(

I think it is pretty safe to enjoy the greatness of the moment all, because...

!!!GLOBAL WARNING!!!

...the All Blacks are gonna rock the world. We're probably getting Graham Henry as the new coach (there's gonna be changes whoever) so both Aus and Eng are gonna get a right hurry up come the tri-nations and the tour. ;)

Love it, there's always the next game.

A truly incredible game. You could not have hoped for a more dramatic finale to the tournament. Jonny boy getting the winning goal in extra time is the sort of finish that normally only exists in scriptwriters' imaginations, as is how the Wallabies came back from shocking form in the pools to push the English all the way.

Congratulations must go to England, a great side by any measure and worthy winners of the Cup. Commiserations to the Wallabies, who came so close and were mighty performers, but pipped right at the end.

This royal throne of kings, this sceptr'd isle
This earth of majesty, this seat of Mars
This other Eden, demi-paradise
This fortress built by Nature for herself
Against infection and the hand of war,
This happy breed of men, this little worl,
This precious stone set in a silver sea,
Which serves it in the office of a wall,
Or as a moat defensive to a house,
Against the envy of less happier lands;
This blessed plot, this earth, this realm, this England...

What a magnificent game & a finale worthy of Hollywood ! England deserved the victory though the Wallabies can be proud of their performance, and especially of George Gregan's grace in defeat. It's a shame the same can't be said of the Aussie media.......but I hope their words taste good as they are forced to eat them ! Swing Low Sweet Chariot !
