Rumor: G.I. Joe for d20 Modern

"GI Joe for D20 Modern is in the works. So said a WotC rep when queried about why GI Joe figures were being used for D20 Modern demos.

GI Joe is a Hasbro property.

There you have it: An actual rumor that could be anything from the real deal to leg pulling at the WotC booth."

Well, I was using Joes back around 1989 for my Top Secret S.I. game, so this may just be idle gossip.

But I think a nice G.I. Joe sourcebook would be a welcome addition.

And if it sells...the Transformers can't be far behind.

Mmmm....transformers. Someone has a thread over at WotC boards about trying to come up with something till WotC does.

Of course, somewhere after Transformers has to be Mask :)

Is MASK a Hasbro property?

Always liked that cartoon...waiting to see who got picked for the team each episode.

Really, a good model for an RPG...have a pool of twenty or thirty characters, and pick and choose for each mission.

Funny...just a few days ago a thread comes up in General about how Hasbro should do things like this.

Tell me its true! It has to be! If we get GI-Joe d20, that must mean we may get a Transformers d20!!!...must...have...

So who's the property owner of the Little Green Army Men(tm)?

Personally, it's what I call Product Endorsement, like in the movie, where they inserted advertised products into the scene. For example, instead of looking at a star drinking a generic cola, you'll see Pepsi(tm).

But as you say, it's still a rumor until it is confirmed or a public announcement is made.

Wow, nostalgia flashbacks here. I remember using a modified AD&D system to play a GI Joe game with my friends back in high school. I always played Scarlet of course. :)

I would so love to see this made, and would snap it up right away. I've been looking at the new GI Joe figures coming out, wondering if I should start collecting again or not. And just this weekend I saw a bunch of pretty decent looking action figures at the same scale at the local discount store... Including some odd He-man inspired sword and sorcery types. Riding dinosaurs, large animals, skull faced guys with staffs. Think of the cross over possiblities.

Duke: Vecna, we're here to put a stop to your evil plans!
Vecna: Forget it, fool. You'll never beat my magic! Meteor Swarm!

:D

In the spirit of the newly released G.I. Joe vs. Transformers (the Dreamwave version looks better than the Image on to me), I would have to say I'd much rather play Transformers D20 than G.I. Joe D20...

Will the "always parachute from exploding plane" feat be automatic for all GI Joe D20 players? :p

If Optimus gets "Make Trailer Disappear."

The cartoon had certain limitations on the violence and bloodshed, and maybe it looks corny now that we're older, but the comics have almost always been excellent, with a surprising amount of accurate military detail mixed in.
