S1: The Strange Case of Aif Jenkins' Farm (E13 judge) - Concluded

"Divide up the spoils later? I agree. But if we can make any use of them in facing further enemies in our weakened state, then by all means let us use them now."

[sblock=OOC]I'm not suggesting that Eusebius will claim the boots as his part of the spoils. I'm going to add a level in monk as soon as we hit 6th (surely not that far away?), so the boots wouldn't do him any good past that point, anyway (well, they'd still give a +5 to jump checks - assuming that these are 'striding & springing') but in the short term they may be handy, as he says above. In the meantime, I'm trying not to metaplay - but Manz made a point of emphasizing Mano's speed, and boots are a fairly intuitive magical item to do with speed, so I think it's a fair guess on E's part. :) [/sblock]

OOC: By the way, Manz, you haven't issued an XP award since post #241. :) That means that the award for the orcs and this last encounter (which has, I know, taken a long time to get through :o ) are still pending. There's also a time award of nearly six months. That might help some of us to deal with the uber-whatever which now awaits us (particularly as we're now out of spells).

OOC: Oh, I understand the spoils. And Second on wanting XP. BTW< I don't seem to have the first award noted on my sheet, and don't have the search feature till Piratecat fixes it.

Several of the combatants are still alive, including Mano.

Eusebiusis pleased to notice an increase in his speed and leaping ability, apparently from the boots.

Is the scythe just left in the pack and buckled back up? or does anyone take it out and examine it?

I normally only award XPs when the group rests. This has been a long day. I tried to warn you about this in Boog's dream way back, but it's no big deal. You have accumulated a good wad of XPs, but you'll have to wait a bit longer to process them.

healing done. Focus resotred. I'll get another post in here soon, as to what happens as you advance.

"Mano is still alive, as are some of these others." With a level look at his companions, "We should make sure these others don't bother us again," he concludes pointing to the others still breathing. "Some of the enemy may have a healing wand as well. I don't want to come back to see these guys fully recovered."

Beamer put the scythe in his haversack. He'll suggest against anyone examining it further at this time.

The group advances slowly. There are 11 dead cultists, 5 of them with might +1 composite short bows, falchions and studded leather. 3 dead farmhands with chainmail, shields and longsword. Also the dead ogre. Advancing, the party finds a strange dead body, wearing chainmail and holding a sword in its lifeless fingers. It is a slender, frail gray humanoid, with gangly limbs and half-formed features. The flesh is pale and hairless. None have seen it before. Several dead orcs are seen further on.

The way ahead seems straightforward, though several closed doors line the walls.

OOC: At one point I said that Eusebius was carrying the scythe. I'm happy for Beamer to carry it, since it follows on from his examining it for a magical aura. Eusebius may well stick a little closer to Beamer, however, to offer additional protection.

IC: Eusebius frowns in distaste at Beamer's suggestion that they kill those of their enemy who still remain alive. Nevertheless, he acknowledges the wisdom of Beamer's words, his frown becoming a veritable scowl when he imagines the villainous Mano alive and free to oppress others again. The thought of that scythe in his hands is, indeed, a frightening one.

"Very well, let us do it."

He then steps up to Mano first, and snaps his neck with a single, powerful twist.

Juliana nods, "No need to be attacked from behind." She takes a dagger and assists in the end of whom ever she can among the bodies. "We should check the closed doors too, to make sure no one lurks there."

The wounded enemies are dispatched.

The group then moves forward. They proceed through a winding narrow passage, which then straightens out heading directly West. About one hundred feet along, they find a closed door to the North and South. An open door is about 30 feet ahead.
