S1: The Strange Case of Aif Jenkins' Farm (E13 judge) - Concluded

OOC: What? When did Boog die? Last I looked, he was at -4.

IC: Tears stream down Eusebius' face as he sees his friends torn from the light. This has all gone so horribly wrong. What was he thinking of, leading them into such danger, without adequate preparation, without adequate protection. Shining Light forgive him, he had failed, and failed most horribly!

Well, there were still the two halflings to consider - and word to get to the high priest.

"Beamer, Banion, fall back. We are hopelessly outmatched. Wait, take this." He tosses Banion the pouch containing the funds that the high priest had given him.

"I'll hold them off as long as I can ... which probably won't be long. Make sure you get to the high priest in Orussus - tell him what we found."

Then, setting aside all thought of the other two, the monk priest reaches out to offer one last boon to his fallen companion. He wields the healing wand and pours out blessing on Juliana. Then he sets himself to dodge the lion's inevitable attack.

Beamer casts back in his mind and remembers the stout door of the compound. Over the mindlink, I have a scroll that can lock the door, we just need to get outside. We need you Eusebius. Fall back with us, and keep healing Juliana. Another streak of fire flies passed Eusebius at the lion, but unfortnately misses. He then draws a scroll (hold portal)from his backpack and steps farther into the hallway.

Banion's stomach sinks as he sees the bolt of flame go wide, knowing that the lion would be upon him in seconds.

Euseibus touches Juliana's prone form with his wand. She revives, remembering her darkest days of pain, and being happy to be back from that. (heals 6)

Round 5
Beamer fires off a scorching ray at the lion. Despite its size, it is fast. It leaps to the side and the fire scorches only the stone wall.

The still-glowing, but no longer blind form of the bald enemy leader moves forward, at astonishing speed. "Minions of Idrag, is it death you seek?"

Behind him comes an orc.

The fiendish woman also glides forward, unnaturally. "Don't eat them, lion, I want to play with them, like I did with that cute paladin! Throw down your weapons!"

The lion pauses, subservient to its mistress, but its haunches poised to spring.

Banion takes a 5' step through the door to the north, manifests a new mindblade, and full defends.

I could wish we had started with a more usefull bluff than associating ourselves with that jerk Idrag... Banion thinks to himself.

"Are you making some sort of offer?" he asks, in hopes of stalling for time.

Over the mindlink, he urges the other to fall back.

Banion steps back and readies his mindblade. Juliana stands (MEA) & picks up her flail (MEA - which she dropped when she dropped.). Eusebius heals her, as he helps her up.

The two blinded monks come barreling back up the hallway, no longer blind.
