Safe Fall do you end up prone ?

Harrassed DM

First Post
One of my players is adamant that the only way you would take no damage from a fall is if you landed on your feet. I ruled that the use of ride skill to safe fall from an unconscious mount only prevents the taking of fall damage and you still end up prone.

Is this correct?

If he wishes could he use the quick dismount to end up on his feet or is this restricted to his turn?

Thanks for any assistance.

Off the top of my head, I don't think the rule is clearly stated either way.

How about you attempt the DC for no damage, and if you get that, you can also, seperately, attempt quick mount/dismount, and if get that, too, you end up on your feet?

It at least gives you a mechanic for deciding what happens. If you get both rolls, it means you stepped out of the sadlle as the horse went down. If you get only the soft fall one, then you rolled with the fall and took no damage, but you are prone.
