I disagree. Multi-classing is a HIGHLY desired aspect of the game by Players. I think the reason is because they cannot have their character concept fulfilled under an extensively defined class-based game.nerfherder said:http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/4ask/20080125a
The synopsis answer says "Multiclassing has been an integral part of previous editions and 4th Edition will have multiclassing, although we are not discussing the mechanics of it yet. Again, look to D&D Insider for more information on this aspect of the game at a later date."
Chris Perkins says, in the video, about the mechanics "they're still in heavy playtesting phase and do still need more work". I thought the PHB was done and out the door to the printers. Is there still time to change rules in the PHB (assuming multiclass rules appear in the PHB)? Or was the video made before the PHB went out?
Once multi-classing can be done whenever, wherever without penalty, you've got essentially a single class game where one person can be anything along whatever paths have been designed. (iow, class-less)
