Well, that just goes to prove that sometimes two minds work better than one. I just thought a little further on the concept you yourself had come up with. Ahhh... its lovely.

I think there already is a creature named Undead Horror though, how about calling it Tomb-Born or Animated Horror?

I think there allready is a Tomb Horror, and animated horror just sounds corny.

Hmm... some name ideas:

Undead Abomination
Bone Horror
Necrophage

Any comments or suggestions?

Necrophage sounds good, even though I am not completely sure what it means. Animated is not good for undead creatures, you are right about that.

Well, the first priority of the name is for it to sound cool. For it to have any real meaning is a distant second priority (and in some cases, not a priority at all).

I sometimes find the most unusual sources for names. The PrC im writing on now is called a Ravicinist. To Ravage is Ravici in italian. So, I simply took the italian word for it and used it to make a -ist name, even though the logical reasoning behind choosing that specific name is pretty dumb :)

Hey, it still beats the way TSR used to do it.

Basically they took a semi-naughty word such as 'nipple' and translated it into a non-english language such as german. (Yes, they actually did this, there is a creature called 'Busen' which is german for 'nipple'.) :D

lol.....

I actually saw Mr. Gygax commenting on how he had come up with the name Gnoll. It was simply a mix between a Gnome and a Troll... sometimes its easier than it looks :)
