Sahak of the nine colors! Spells and stuff.

On a side note, Eldren is an epic cleric (True neutral in alignment).

So what did you think of the suggestion for how we make the 'tower'?

I just used Eldren since you did, seemed like a good idea that it obviously is a person whom Sahak speaks to occasionaly. I think the idea for the Citadel is good, SBG has good rules for making the layout of a lair, fortress, citadel or tower. It should make it easier converting it into a viable location.

Hope you liked the flavour text.

Anyways, im not sure on construction costs / requirements for the Malificient Gargoyles, one of my weak points (another one of my weak points). But, the way the were made, it is the idea that there should be a small horde around the Citadel, not just one or two. After all, they are "hordling" creatures...

Let's just assume that he uses some epic ritual to create them :D

So how and where should we decide on the creation of the 'tower'?

For one thing, it needs to be mobile...

Also about Eldren, he is sort of a friend of Sahaks, well, actually, he has been sent by his church as a political liason of sorts, to keep an 'eye' on the mage of the nine colors... :D

Alas, I did not bring my SBG to work today, mostly Monster-related books (gonna work on Liches). But, there is a section of SBG that describes the cost for flying Citadels (I promise you, according to SBG, this stronghold might be pretty expensive).

First of, we should decide on a basic design. Will it be like a normal, medieval castle with an open courtyard or will it be a massive building, perhaps with a central tower in which Sahak lives. Both would have advantages and disadvantages.

As a last resort, we could always make a citadel that would be a collection of glass-domes. It wouldn't have the same defensive capabilities as a normal stronghold, but it would provide ample rooms for his Orchards... Even though, Sahak sounds like a person who might want a little privacy...

Well, we could take a little from colum A and a little from column B: A large central building with adjacent towers, in one of which Sahak has his private chambers. At the top of the central structure we could have a glass dome, as the roof of the Arboreatum. We could also add an astrolabe in one of the other towers.

But, we should probably make Sahak himself first, as there are certain feats that will give us a bigger budget when designing his citadel. Also there are quite a few spells that will reduce the construction cost of the structure.

What do you think, is it time to descide on his stats?

Yes... I believe the time has come....

Off course, intelligence. From what has been said so far, Charisma needs to be high as well. Not sure about Wisdom though. Doesn't sound like a person with high strength or con, but dex would probably have to above average. And then, off course, the are the inevitable stat-altering items....

Don't forget the wishes, a +5 bonus to each ability score is quite good.

So how do we make the base stats?, should we take the standard array (15, 14, 13, 12, 10, 8, to be distibuted as we see fit) or do we do it some other way?

I dont ever use the standard stat-arranging for making NPC's

I would say (as base, later modified by race, the 7 extra points from level, Wishes and items)

Str: 8
Dex: 13
Con: 10
Int: 18
Wis: 11
Cha: 15

As a proposal

Looks good to me, with the +2 bonus to dex and int, and the -2 to cha, that would be:

Str: 8
Dex: 15
Con: 10
Int: 20
Wis: 11
Cha: 13

Adding the wish bonuses, it changes to:

Str: 13
Dex: 20
Con: 15
Int: 25
Wis: 16
Cha: 18

Good?

Now we should decide where the 7 inherent points go.

How about, int +3 and cha +4. He should have plenty of skill points, we can easily give him both Bluff & Diplomacy, so charisma would prove useful. Also, he sounds charismatic (when he wants to be).

Dont know what items he might have, but Epic Headband (+ something or other to intelligence) is an obvious choice. Still think he would benefit from another self-made magic item with unique properties though. Perhaps Sahak's Staff? Im not sure what properties it should have though.

I think he would pretty much have access to every spell in the book, due to his level and diversity. And, added in are those unique spells of his. Epic spells, I cant think of many. He's already got an Epic high-damage spell.

I gather he wouldn't have any melee weapons, he doesn't fit the melee type. So, we can therefore assume that his combat style would be one that was concentrated on staying at a good range from his enemies. Also, it sounds as if though he doesn't like combat in the first place, so such spells as Force Teleport and Sahak's Maze might be good opportunities to spread up the attackers so that he could concentrate on one at the time. He obviously doesn't prefer a fair fight. If he could, he would probably hide behind his minions (amongst those, his horrible little Gargoyles). I would think he might have a Golem, perhaps two around somewhere, minor summoned demons or devils and his mortal minions controlled by spells and brute power. I think he is the kind of guy that ALWAYS has a Quickened Teleport memorised :)
