Sailing from disaster...

Even though he noticed the crew putting something away below deck he decides to keep his curiosity in check until he can talk to one of the other group members in private about it. Putting it the back of his mind for now he stands there silently for the captain to arrive.

You see a lantern fill the captains berth with light through the window. Soon after you are asked to join him there to tell your news. As you enter you are greeted with a familiar sight. Alistra, the captain and Uli the wizard are all there. Uli is fully dressed in his robe and wearing his gold chain with large pendant again. The captain seems just as normal as well. It is clear that Alistra was just awakened.

Alistra bids you all to sit and offers wine or water as you choose. She offers help to those who are most injured, as does the officer who shows you into the cabin. Your guest is left outside under guard of the sailors. He remains tied and gagged. The sailors double check the gag after being told about his spell casting abilities.

"The crew thought you were a group of buccaneers coming to take a fat merchant as a prize so they were prepared for a fight on deck. I am happy to see it was you instead. Please tell me what you have learned at such cost. I am grieved to see such terrible wounds on most of you." With this she gives a curious look to Ezieer.

"Well we had two incidents.. on with a lizard like beast with mighty sharp claws and teeth. Came out of no wheres when I beached the skiff on the nor-east part of the big island o' three."

He pauses.

"The other with two spellcasting islanders... not really primitives either from their gear. They wore the skull thingies but also wore armor and carried finely wrought weapons as well. Dey brought a host of undead bones as their shock troups.. 5 o' em.. carryin metal shields and clubs."

He thinks a bit.

"I don't know if they knew we were there and came after us or they just happen'd upon us. Seems strangish to me to walk round with a bunch of undead to me... but I ain't one o' dose neekroemancers none now am I?"

Uli, the wizard, interrupts Ezieer, "Could you describe the spells being cast against you? That could help us understand just what you faced."

"Well they moved around like so (dances and jerks around)... and said a few somethings I didn't understand at all. Whatever they were doing.. it didn't do much since it didn't stop us from whackin em... unless that was their way o' controlling the walking bones."

Ezieer describes the strange antics of the men in charge of the skeletons.

"I ain't knowing what that's all about really... Azeem or someone else might be able to tell you more 'bout it. Or yea can ask the fella yerself. He's the unconscious half-elf I brought aboard. His friend is lobster-bait... Iya tossed him ovarboard. Eraekoth likes it when ya feed his fishes."

Ezieer states this last nonchalantly.

Azeem Razuddi

Azeem ponders for a few moments. "I couldn't say exactaly what they were casting. Perhaps Eisinrhyr has more knowledge on that than I. We resisted their effects whatever they were. If I had to guess I would say they were trying to cause us to be afraid, or perhaps to control our actions in some way. But that could be wrong, spell casting isn't exactaly my forte."

Morcano suddenly remembers the spell cast at him in the beginning of the battle and quickly adds to the conversation stating: "When they first appeared, a spell was cast at me specifically, but Theodus' inspiring song kept me from falling under its powers." (nods a quick thanks to the dwarf)

Uli listens to each of your additions and comments intently. "You have brought one of the spell casters aboard?" He looks to Alistra, "I will go to make sure that there is no mischief on his behalf."

Alistra nods to Uli and his excuses himself. "Can you tell me any more about what you have found? What are your plans now and how can I help?"

"Hmmmm not much... found a game trail that I think goes to the main village on the island. If all are still willing... and we get patched up... I think we may give it another shot. Got to be healthy though.. most everyone got trashed good."

He grins as he went untouched in the event.

Ezieer's point is clearly not missed by Alistra as she smiles in return to his comment. "I do have some potions on board for emergencies. Respected Oman Al'jar is a very beneficial friend to have. You should pay him a visit and your respects on your return to Crolon Ezieer and Azeem. He has been very kind to you, and thinks very highly of you for the help you gave him and his mission. The temple of Os would be sorely pressed to find any support in the city without your saving his shipment."

Alistra has a small strongbox brought into the cabin and opens its lock with a key produced from within her clothing. Glimpsing around the opened lid (( which I know you will surely do, Ezieer )) you can see a dozen or more carefully arranged vials in padded partitions. She removes four of the vials and offers them to Morcano, Eisinrhyr, Theodus and Azeem. "These will assist your recovery from your wounds. Rest tonight on the ship after drinking these and you should feel much better."

(( The potions will heal 14 hp. In addition, you each gain 1 hp/level for a night of rest. This gives Azeem 17hp and the rest 16hp recovered after the night. ))

"Do you have any idea of what the monster is or who is controlling it?" Alistra asks your group.
