Sam Raimi - 'I would love to do the 4th Evil Dead film!'

To me, the question on hand is, does Sam Raimi even know about the mentionings of a Freddy vs Jason vs Ash movie, and if so, is that the Evil Dead 4 movie he's talking about?

I agree that the main problem with such a movie (Freddy vs Jason vs Ash) would be that, while all those characters lend themselves to action, Ash is strongly identified as a humorous character, while Freddy and Jason are more horrific ones. Humor and horror don't blend well together. The result would either be an action slapstick with the two horror giants, or Ash in the first serious Evil Dead role he's had since Evil Dead I.

I think it'd be great, Evil Dead II-ian horror comedy!

I don't know I've thought that both the freddie and jason movies had degenerated into bad jokes many movies ago. Think about it for a minute. What you would want to do is have Ash be himself and have his reactions be what people have been mocking and joking about the F&J movies for years now.

Something along the lines of - Ash runs into Jason, battle for a bit. Ash manages to hack him in half with the chain saw. Turns around to walk away, Jason kill music kicks in and Ash suddenly turns around to see Jason about to take his head off. Ash runs, lures Jason into car crusher (always a classic) and Jason gets mangled. Ash starts to walk away, cue music and barely unsuccessful attack from Jason. Rinse repeat once more, maybe twice before you have Ash exclaim in frustration "What the HELL does it take to kill this SOB!"

Evil Dead (and subsequent films) is easily my single greatest movie love, ever. I'm one of those crazy Bruce Campbell fanboys who buy his (hilarious!) books, and own bootleg copies of Within the Woods. Thus, if an Evil Dead 4 came out, I'd be in the theaters for days straight.

And as for my vote, Jason vs. Ash! But they'd better film it in Jersey, at the original camp! Not that garbage camp from Freddy vs. Jason!

Within the Woods is the first, pre-production film for Evil Dead. It was shot in 8mm hand-held, and was used by the boys to raise money for the actual film. The only actual people from Evil Dead in it are Bruce Campbell, and the chick who gets tree-raped. (I'm about to die since I can't remember her name)

I have it on bootleg VHS, which I cleaned up and put on DVD at a friend's editing shop. I might be able to do it for you, might not. Try Kazaa!
