Same race favored enemy

I run a human-only campaign, so I do it with a lot of my mooks, who all seem to have Favored Enemy (Human). Fighter1/Ranger1, Fighter2/Ranger1 (since as thog teaches us, Fighter level 3 is dumb level).

I still get full BAB, the possible -2 HP doesn't matter much, but I do get that nice +2 damage. It also doesn't matter much, but it makes me feel better. :)

I always felt that 3.0 rule was dumb, and never played it. After all, a bounty hunter is best described as a ranger with favored enemy of his own race. Are all bounty hunters evil?

That was a dumb rule in 3.0 It was one of the first things i house ruled. The second thing was the rest of the ranger class :D . There is alot to say for military training if you fight other human enemies and so forth. Having your own race as a favored enemy is no more evil than having dwarves or elves or halflings as favored enemies, all generally good races. Dumb rule glad they ditched it.

The rule was a hold over from 2nd edition where the ranger got a bonus against its favored enemy due to intense hatred rather than due to extra study. I don't agree with the logic that you can only hate your own race if you are evil, but that's how it was.

Especially if you are a good-aligned member of a usually evil race. There's got to be a reason why you left in the first place!
