Sandstorm- any questions?

I just picked up Sandstorm in Brisbane today (for AUD39.95, FWIW) and it seems that I might be the only one on these boards with it. So, nice guy that I am, any questions?

How comparable is it to Frostburn?

What dieties are there?

If you hit a wiffle ball with it, how far will the ball go?

Lowlights: asherati (yet another PC race), bhuka (yet another PC race), good to see stats for various desert animals (particularly vultures and jackals, both normal and dire versions), waste crawler (I don't like my monsters with wheels)

Oh, and wow to cause a player to die of shame? Have his PC eaten by a dire wombat.

Prestige Classes

Ashworm Dragoon: see the WotC preview.
Lord of Tides: spellcaster who can tap into elemental forces of water and earth.
Sand Shaper: dust magic specialist. Entry to this PrC requires travel to a touchstone site.
Scion of Tem-Et-Nu: river guardians.
Scorpion Heritor: think of a rogue (sneak attack damage) crossed with the Scorpion King.
Walker in the Waste: members of this PrC become dry liches at 10th level and along the way enjoy the ability to drain the life water out of their foes, create salt mummies and sand golems.

Each of these PrCs is pretty powerful but at least they're interesting.

Deities

"Dieties" (sic) is probably the correct spelling in the case of Sandstorm because they are given the "low calorie treatment": there is very little information on the new deities, just a single paragraph on the new "deities of the wastelands" and a simple table for the Egyptian and Babylonian deities. None of the deities has a picture of his or her respective symbol; the deities of the wastelands have their symbols briefly described in their one-paragraph write-ups. Frankly, WotC would probably have been better served omitting the tables for the Egyptian and Babylonian pantheons and putting in some small pictures of symbols instead.

Hm, yes, question. How silly is the War Camel?

Silly? The silliness factor comes in when you consider that the description mentions that they are like the dromedary camel but bred for strength... and yet have the same strength as the dromedary. Otherwise, the idea of the war camel makes sense, IMO.

Dire hippo seems an odd choice, since they're a water-dependent species, as far as I know.

Is the giant banded lizard a gila monster? Does it have a poisonous bite and a special bite ability? (If it is, this could almost sell me on the book all by itself.)
