[Sandstorm] What the heck are these new weapons?

I know that they've been pushing the oversized weapons for intimidation and show factor. That's probably what the swords are, extra large scimitars, and such.

The whip with the poisoned stinger at the end is probably just that. A whip that injects poison when it's done.

The bottom right weapon could be either a throwing knife, or a variant on the kama, that allows for trip attacks more easily.

And the bottom left are claws, obviously. Either taken from an animal and used as weapons by people, or natural weapons. There's also a scorpion obsessed prestige class, which they may be used by.

Just on a side note, I find the graphics for these weapons absolutely excellent. Like the weaponry in Complete Adventurer, the style is impressively brilliant!

I don't mind the style either. Wayne England's the artist, and he seems fond of the scroll-backing. It worked great in Libris Mortis for the equipment.

Slightly off topic (apologies): what's the street date on this puppy? (last time i looked) amazon has some date for next month, wotc just says 'march' ... ?

Looks like someone's a fan of EverQuest's Kunark expansion. Every other weapon from that continent looked like that, in abject defiance of logic. (They were swords there.)

Not to be snarky, but since it's based on a real-world weapon, how's it illogical?

Edit: Ah- you said they were swords in Everquest.

Even better, they were dual-wielded swords in Everquest, which seems to be the height of suicidal impulses to me.
