[Savage Species] Fire Mephit Characters

In my new campaign there is a Fire Mephit NPC named Dante that was originally brought in via a summoning spell. Since the spell was originally equivalent to a Summon Monster IV, we put together this class (using Savage Species) to build the NPC.

Level progression table is below. (I cant html it on these boards).

Fire Mephit:

Size Small: as small creatures, mephitis gain a +1 size bonus to AC, a +1 size bonus on attack rolls, and a +4 size bonus to Hide checks. They must use smaller weapons than humans use and have their lifting and carrying capacity limited to ¾ of those of medium sized characters.

Fire Mephit base speed is 30’

Fire Mephits have Darkvision 60’, due to their outsider heritage

Fire Mephits receive +2 Dex, +2 Int, +2 Cha at 1st level.

Fire Mephits have the fire subtype. They are immune to fire damage, but take double damage from cold. If a saving throw is allowed, the fire mephit takes half damage from a successful save and double damage from a failed save.

A fire mephit with a charisma of 10 or higher develops spell-like abilities starting at 2nd level (heat metal and magic missile).

Note that a fire mephit must be in contact with an open flame at least the size of a torch to use its fast healing ability. Upon reaching 6th level, a fire mephit can summon another mephit. However, any summoned mephit vanishes before it can summon another mephit. The duration of the summoning is less than an hour, and a summoned mephit cannot use it’s summoning power for at least an hour after arrival.

Mephits have no weapon proficiencies and no armor proficiencies. They are eligible for monster proficiencies if they meet the prerequisites. Fire mephitis have natural weaponry and can attack with their claws without provoking attacks of opportunity.

The preferred class of Fire Mephit is Fire Mephit, but they make great rogues, sorcerers, and bards once they reach 6th level.

It seems interesting and nice work. Though I don't have Savage Species so I can't comment on the mechanics. :)

grabbing a summoned creature as an NPC does seem like a neat idea too :)
