Savage Species is AWESOME...and this is why

I knew the book was going to be good. Even when I saw a few threads here that spoke of disappointment I knew I needed to see it before judging it.

Glad I bought it!

I am using it's templates, it's prestige classes and now going into the other stuff. As I play a world of mutations and magic gone wild (Darksun) this book is a "Core" book.

Looking to do Aliens? Insectiod template
Looking to do movie type vampires? Master of flies Prestige Class
Looking to creat new creatures? dozen plus templates and articals on balancing it out.

I'm curious now about the 3.5e Monsters book.

I agree that SS is a great book. Not sure about having racially specific PrCs but I guess if you can have them for elves and dwarves there can be some for "monster" races. I will be sure to use the insectile and feral templates. The only thing I was really disappointed in was them reusing monsters from MMII to stat out.

I agree with you. It's a great book.
It had alot more DM goodies in it than I originally thought it would, which is a nice bonus. The templates are really cool!

I agree. I'm only a couple of chapters into the book, and I can see it coming into use a lot for me as a DM and also, if to a much lesser extent, for my players too. One of my them is actually thinking about that mindflayer paladin he's always threatened me with

I have enjoyed the book immensly. While there's things I'd do different, I don't think theres anything bad about the book.

Except those chains that are medium martial weapons and do 2d6 damage, they're silly.

I will probably use plenty of the book.

IMHO SavSpecies is the best WotC release in a long time. Useful, full of crunchy bits, and capable of adding lots of flavor to any campaign. I really like it.

Ok, now I'm getting more and more annoyed that my local bookstore doesn't have it and I won't be too a bigger one for at least two weeks...

While I have serious issues with the ECL of some of the creatures, overall I like SS a good bit.
