The man shakes his head but adds "Nothing specific... just raiders of late. Orks and Ogres who claim to work for someone called the Gargoyle King, have attacked us twice along with attacking our citizens all around the area. We have been considering taking up General Kenneth Sprite* offer of an alliance and to station some of his troopers here."

He looks back at the beetle and some of the refugees before adding "I don't got nothing against DBees personally but this so-called Gargoyle King's raiders have been doing us a lot of harm and well... maybe it would just be best if you moved on through as fast as possible. If you give us any trouble we have a railgun emplacement and we an't afraid to use it..."

GM: *As you were briefed, this is the leader of the 1st Apocalyptic Cavalry

GM: The Raiders following you? No they are at least an hour behind you. It seems they are following you just on the road right now but you can probably assume someone in that group is also checking you out Psionic or Magically every hour or so...
 


"Hmmm. Gargoyle King, huh?" Dawn makes a mental note to include that in the debrief. "I'll keep an eye out."

She halfway turned away, then thought better of it. "You know, the 1st Apoc ain't too picky about who they call a d-bee - or who they accuse of harbouring 'em. But I get what you're sayin', if it's a choice between alive with them or dead on your own, I can understand that.

"The people I'm affiliated with, we might have an alternative to the 1st Apoc. With your permission - do you want me to see if they'd be interested in extendin' some of our protection towards you? Because obviously I'm a hair bit biased, but I think we might have the better deal for ya. An' before I go: thanks for the info ont he Gargoyle King. We'll remember that name."
 

((No, I meant the parley group.))

GM: Yes totally, assuming you are in Human form... as if you are Dragon right now they probably would not have approached.


The man looks at Dawn with a bit of suspension, adding "An't never heard of them. How can they protect us? Heck the Coalition claims these lands but all we ever see is air patrols passing overhead now and again.

The cavalry at least has a force here in this wilderness... but if you want to pass along a request. But I would want to meet with any representatives first. I don't really care for the cavalries... attitudes too much. They tend to party hard in the areas they occupy and can be very rough on the locals. But what choice do we have?"
 

"Well, that's what we're all about: givin' people a better choice." Dawn smiled, nodded, and went on her way.

She gave the thumbs up to Alenys, paused, then explained that it was a gesture meaning "things are okay." "So they're dealin' with raiders belongin' to someone called the Gargoyle King an' they're seriously considerin' shackin' up with the First Apoc on account of them wanting some protection. Figure the folks back at base might want to see if we can help 'em."

She climbed onto the fury beetle, grunting with exertion. "But first we gotta get back home. Hya!"

Alenysturathe smiled as Dawn returned and said everything was okay. “Good. They seemed like nice people,” she said. “I would have hated to burn down their town,” she mused. “Are they going to be okay, with the bad guys following us?” she asked with concern. “I know we got lots of people to get back to the castle, but I don’t want the next team to come out here to make contact and find it burned down by the Cavalry because they let us through.”

"I hope the same. But if they're thinkin' of takin' the deal they may be on good enough terms that it's not a concern. But we're not far from home so we can get in contact with our superiors on it pretty quick."
 

The older Human heads back to the motorcycle and returns to the city. The heroes can see the the railgun on the tower points its barrels upwards but still in the groups general direction. Sparky gets moving and the whole caravan passes by the city without incident and are soon back on their way. After a couple of hours Dawn notices that there have been no additional 'psychic spying' against them since they passed the city.

Towards the end of the day you come to the clearing where the burnt out RV was. When you had encountered the orc bikers attacking those folks. Your trail south now will lead into the forest and hills again but this is the way that the heroes had originally past and the fury-beetle had already 'blazed' a trail through. It should be much easier going... but the group will have to camp for the night close by as it is rapidly getting dark.
