“That sounds good,” Alenysturathe said. “Just tell me where I will be best,” she told Dawn.

The heroes take the road, Varg pushing Sparks up too her full speed fairly quickly. The road is bumping and the families have to hold on tight, but they start making good time. The road is not all that straight of course, bending around corners and turns, back and forth as it winds through around around the mountains here. But it is well maintained and that is a pretty big blessing.

After about two hours (its getting close to noon) the road opens up into a valley that has been partially cleared of trees to create farmland. On the opposite end of the valley is a small walled city, with gun emplacements set up on two towers. There are a number of people and light vehicles working on the various farm crops and all stop and start running when your caravan comes into view.

Within a minute the wail of a warning siren can be heard on the city wall and tiny figures (from this distance) can be seen climbing the towers with the guns...

GM: So you can try and run right by the city, continuing on the road (that is the best possible speed) and risk the city's guns firing at you. You can head for the forest to the south, but you will have to slow down quite a bit. You can try and talk with the city folk. Up to you what to do next...

Sitting atop Sparky, Alenysturathe heard the sirens from the town going off and the scramble for the gun turrets.

“Those don’t look friendly!” she said. She glanced at the forest. “Can we warn them that we’re not a threat to them?”

She raised her hand to wave at the town as they approached.

(OOC: If we have a flag of peace, Dawn will display it; if we have some kind of megaphone, Dawn will announce that they come in peace; if they lack these things, Dawn will disembark after leaving her weapons behind and walk out, hands up, to show that they mean no harm.)

OOC: Dawn will volunteer, but I realized that I don't actually have points in Persuasion. If she's going to be the face, she'd better get some. I didn't spend the last raise, so can I spend it now on getting her that skill?

GM: Sure... purchasing a new Skill is a raise and gets you a d4. You also get your wild die. Charisma bonus depends... if you claim you are a Cyber-Knight it will either give you a +2 or a -2 to your roll (not telling you which until after your roll)
[

OOC: Dawn persuasion check: 1D4.OPEN(4)-1 = [4, 4, 1]-1 = 8
A double explosion! Finally, some good luck.

Dawn wild die: 1D6.OPEN(6) = [3] = 3

With an 8, potentially two successes, depending on whether cyber-knight earns Dawn a +2 or -2.

Shaking the sleep out of herself, Dawn handed her weapons over to the others. "Keep them away from Killboy, I ain't trustin' him with anything sharper than a pencil."

She then disembarked, holding the standard of peace high as she approached the town.

"Howdy!" she bellowed. "We come through in peace. We are just headin' down the road an' passin' through an' do not mean any harm upon you an' yours. I am Dawn Silvermane. I am a cyber-knight an' I will prove it. I am not gonna activate my psionic blade - I will activate my cyber-armor."

She sent the psionic trigger thought to the nanite factory in her blood, sending the shell pouring forth, coating her black and white and red foxlike fur in silver that glittered like a glitterboy in the sunlight. "So that's why they call me Dawn Silvermane. These people are with me an' under my protection. Again: we are passin' through and we will not attack you. We head on our way an' that's all that's gonna come of this."

As she spoke, she felt the guns on her, and she felt her cyberkinetic psychic abilities register their targeting systems, the load of their guns, the contacts of their e-clips drums and cylinders, probing them for weakness and entropy - just in case. She awaited their response.

There is a few moments as people continue to rush about in town, behind its walls. There are a group of a people on the wall and Deezy can see that it appears they are arguing. She is also sure that there are a number of folks pointing rifles at the group (Dawn especially). Finally a couple disappear behind the wall and then the front gate to the town opens and a heavily looking motorcycle with a sidecar drives though. The cycle drives up towards the group and everyone can see that they are also holding a white flag. The driver is hard to make out under all of his (or her) leathers and full helmet. The other is an older human male, dressed in a clean but simple workers outfight.

When they get close enough the man (holding the white flag) steps out of the sidecar (the group can also now see that their is a light laser cannon mount on the sidecar and a twin light laser guns mounted on the front of the bike). The older man approaches and when within a distance that he does not need to shout he says "You only wish to pass? Who are you people? Where are you from? These are not safe lands of late and not safe times..."

"My name's Dawn Silvermane. These're my associates an' I vouch for 'em, big bug aside. We're from all over, on a mission of mercy to rescue refugees an' lost souls. We know these ain't safe lands or safe times, which is why we're not stickin' around in 'em." She taps the side of her nose. "Why, is there somethin' we oughta look out for?"
