I think it was Nifft that had a great suggestion for house ruling the spell. I now use it for all my games:
Silence
Casting Time: 1 round

Good. You're coming around. Now, let me talk to you about INA . . .I am beginning to think that SR does not apply unless you are targetted - which is certainly not my going-in position.
Agreed. The "Yes; see text" is the key part, plus reading the sentences in context, together. If they were worded in such a way as to lead one to believe, reasonably, that they were not intended to be together, then you might have a point. However, I don't think that the alternative interpretation as proposed by wedgeski et al is reasonable in that regard.Artoomis said:True, but ONLY for this spell. In general, SR applies to individuals within the in area of effect of a spell, both when it is cast and when it is simply in existence from a previous casting.

1. Anyone who resists gets a saving throw and spell resistance applies.
2. Only those directly targeted get saving throw and SR.
3. Only those targeted get a saving throw and SR applies to all (but that's really NOT the way it reads as written - we conclude this because of other SR rules vs, AoO spells)
