Saw Lost for the first time

I finally watched the show. I remembered in time that ABC was re-showing the first episode. It was good. Now I wish I had Tivo. Once the commercials started playing, it was like more commercials than show.

Peace and smiles :)

and I am hooked. I do have some questions? Did anyone else notice that when Charlie came out of the bathroom, before the crash, that he buckled up and so forth in 1st class. Yet he was on the beach with every one else.

Well, he could have been near the back of First Class. Who's to say the plane separated prefectly where 1st and Coach were divided?

SOmeone at TheFuselage mentioned they cut a bit of that down from when it was orginally filmed. You can kind of make out charlie crawling under the curtain after he dodges that serving cart. He made it out of the doomed first class...

Hand of Evil,

I like your point in your spoiler text. Interesting.

But:
What about the Marshall? Why couldn't he heal him?

A thought occured to me about the idea you've spoilered out:

Who's to say he COULDN'T have saved him? He was keeping him alive until Sawyer stepped in and decided to play god. Jack walks into the tent, we hear the Marshall start moaning in pain, and jack finishes him off out of mercy. Maybe Jack DID bring him back, only to be forced to kill him off again, thanks to what he percieved as a hopeless situation...

Advice for the original poster: get your hands on the inevitable Season 1 DVD, when it comes out (no official word on whether there will be one, but, come on...). The show is SO nuanced, you really want to watch it all the way though.

I plan on watching the next two episodes this week. I had heard that ABC was airing all the episodes again, then go into the 2nd half of the season, hopefully that is true. But I will most likely buy the DVD whwn it comes out.

I just started watching this show last week as well, and I'm really looking forward to this Wednesday. According to a guy at my work (who's seen all of the episodes to date), one of these next two episodes will deal with Terry Quinn's character - he's the bald guy on the beach who was explaining backgammon to the little kid. I've loved Terry's other major roles, as Peter of the Millennium Group in Millennium, and as the evil Santiago in Harsh Realm. I can't wait to see his backstory in Lost[/].

Oh, and as for the big mystery of the island, my own guess, with the admission that I'm only basing this on the information presented in the first two hours, is that this is some sort of "genetic experiment island," kind of like "Jurassic Park" or "The Island of Doctor Moreau." Yeah, it's probably wrong, and there will no doubt be further information in upcoming episodes that contradict this guess, but right now it helps explain why there would be a polar bear living in a subtropical environment, and could explain the "monster" that ate the pilot - okay, maybe there aren't dinosaurs being grown from DNA taken from prehistoric insects trapped in amber, but there could well be Komodo dragons grown to enormous proportions, just to see how far mankind can play around with DNA.

That's my current theory, anyway. Somewhere on the island is/was a genetic laboratory, and the mad scientist(s) behind the experiments may still be around. I'm looking forward to being proven wrong, though.

Only thing i really noticed with the polar bear was the fact that just before it shows up, the kid is reading a comic book that has a polar bear and then the bear shows up. That seems to much of a coincidence that he would find a comic with the very next thing that 'manifests' on the island and attacks them doesn't it?

Actually, if the island is manifesting things like that, I'd be more surprised that it chose to manifest a polar bear instead of a member of the Justice League (or whatever comic book the kid was reading). You have to figure that the superheroes were more in the kid's mind than the polar bear, especially since he was just looking at the pictures (if I remember correctly, it was a Spanish comic book, and the kid didn't know how to read Spanish).
