Saying goodbye to dragon and dungeon magazines?

I don't know if this is possible, but maybe it is.

Would you give money for an Ad (as large as we can) in Dragon and Dungeon magazine, saying something like:

"On behalf of all your readers and contributors throughout the years, Thank you Dragon"

What we need:

* Confirmation from Paizo that we can do this.
* Somebody to design the Ad.
* Somebody to collect the money (a respected member of the community).
* Advertise this effort in as many places possible, gaming report, Paizo boards, WOTC boards etc. (after we have everything else organized).
* Something I am sure I am forgetting.

If this is possible, we don't have much time to do it, so we better get moving!

Sort of liked the idea at first...but not keen on paying $ to say thank you. I think an email or printed letter works just fine.

Personally, I'd rather use my money to buy more Paizo stuff or subscribe to the DI.

Thanks,
Rich

Not to mention, at this stage, the advertising for a magazine only a couple of months away is probably already paid and allotted...

A grand, positivity-only thank you to Paizo and farewell to the old magazines sticky thread would probably accomplish the same thing without the danger of the money-holder sneaking off with the money and buying a yacht.

I was thinking of running off with the money and buying a 10' x 10' shack in the mountains and writing manifestos from there.

Thanks,
Rich

Goofing aside...this was DragonBelow's idea.

DragonBelow, would you want to write the first post in the thread Whizbang Dustyboots suggested?

Henry or Wizbang, are either of you able to sticky the thread? Also, not sure how we could keep it 'Positive'? I suspect that would require a moderating influence.

Thanks,
Rich

Laff. . .paying money to say goodbye. . .that's a good one!

Hey, I have some swampland in south Florida you might be interested in. Message me for details.

A few comments to the post so far:

I know we could do this with a sticky thread here, and I don't mind saying thank you there, but for similar reasons as of why a digital product can't fully replace a physical one, and vice versa, I think an add would be more appropriate.

According to these documents:

http://paizo.com/paizo/about/advertise

We would have until 06/15 to get an Ad in the magazines (and yes, they could be sold out already, but only Paizo can say that).

Also, a full page Ad on Dragon costs about $2500 (don't know if the prices changed for the last issues, they could've).

I am just pitching an idea here folks, I am not saying you have to give _me_ money, I was trying to rally interest in the idea and get some volunteers to design the Ad and a respected member of the community to step in an offer to collect the money.

Thanks
