But here's a hint: even if the character is flanking the bad guy, DO NOT say something like "Stone Bear pounds roughly into him from behind, and the monster screams with pain."

Too late. Been there, done that.

Just the last session I had something similar to that with the party's big fighter and his greatsword who came up behind the... I think I'll just stop there.

On a side note I can say I think I've done lots of those kind of things, can't just remember any now.

In one of my games one of the PCs just cured a diseased boy from a primitive village. The villagers gathered all around her, thanking her prolifically and pronouncing her a god.

The player of the PC was getting embarrassed about it, and while shaking her head said very seriously: 'This is not neccessary, you don't have to thank me, I am but a humble god'.

We couldn't stop lauging for half an hour.

Her self-pronounced 'godhood' was brought during many sessions thereafter, often embarassing her again, as she was actually a quite shy and humble player.

LOL. Elephant of Surprise! I have the most wonderful mental image of this elephant on tiptoes, peering around the door, waiting for the party to arrive. Sort of "Horton Hears a Who" looking. One of you artistic types get working on that.

Well I can't use Mines or Miners in any of my games ever again.

I playing an NPC dwaf who owned a mine that was under attack by some unknown monster and when asking the PC's to help I said something along the lines of: "Miners have been disappearing and I would like you to go look for them and find out whats been happening" I kept using the word 'miners' describing the quest until one of the players starts busting up laughing. I look at him questionably and he says "Thats a lot of young girls to have in one place. What exactly were you doing with all them?" Thats when everyone cracks up. I just sit there all red faced while the rest of them join in the banter. It got so bad that I ended up giving up on the whole adventure. and skipped to soemthing else after 20mins of the whole thing.
