Sandviken

Only half as offensive as Fittja.

Gävle, yeah. Sure. Gävle is nice. I like Gävle. But Sandviken is a festering sore, a pit of hell most of whose denizens were scraped off of the most disgusting part of the Primordial Ooze.

With an unclean spatula.

Fittja ain't got nothin' on this. I'm sure Henrix, having been one of the good few and thereby escaped, can vouch for this.

And by the way, I've got to tell you, while I'm glad to hear all that about the many girl gamers and no social stigma and whatnot, I've never noticed either. I've met somewhere upwards of two women who RP (tabletop, mind you; LARP is a whole other ball game), and I'm most always met with the "well, that's incredibly geeky" attitude. I am a geek and proud of it, though, not to mention mildly antisocial, so I don't care.

So, um, are you guys talking about Chinese restaurants?

Or different recipes for quiche?

Or what?

Yes. (Although I don't remember that much about Sandviken. It was a long time ago, and I was ten when I was there last time!)

Perhaps you should consider moving to Uppsala - nice town, good gamer community, many women gamers, and not that far from Gävle.
You'd have to learn to dodge the Livets Ord fanatics, though :(

Swedish cities. :D (OK, calling Sandviken a city is pushing it...)

Snoweel: Yeah, I've only been to the Tradition in Gallerian so far. Too small and crowded compared to SF. I'll have a look at the Tradition in Farsta some day.

Generally, Tradition seems to be slightly clueless about pretty much everything they sell.

And this is just the beginning. Tradition was recently bought by Electronic Arts (distributors of computer games, mostly), and a fairly safe bet is that they will soon stop selling RPGs.

Yeah, I've been expecting that for quite some time. They've moved more and more to computer and console games, and their "coming releases" list is 85% video games, the remaining 15% card games, miniature games, and RPGs.

Well, I mostly shop from SF anyway...

Hey, I'm one!

Seriously, though I have played D&D, well actually AD&D, since the early '80s, I haven't got the widespread knowlegde of how popular roe-playing is in Denmark.

However, based on what I see in the RPG stores that I frequent here in Copenhagen, I would say it has a widespread and diverse following here.

I have an agreement with the local RPG store (Farao's Cigarer) that they put aside all new incoming (WotC) books for me, and when I visit it bi-monthly I pick them up.

From what I can tell the store sells out about 50 copies of any splatbook in a week or so... So basically there must be somebody out there playing it.
