Scarred Lands advice please.

To which Nightfall will add this: Divine and the Defeated = way better than Deities and Demi-gods any day of the week. The "stats" were just for the gods avatars. (And poorly done too). But ignore that, read the gods stories and certainly the Titans stories and you have 1/3 of the Scarred Lands down cold. ;)

Also I would say in my own game the following: The only monsters that have "always" are outsiders and constructs. I felt since the former is kind of the arbiter of their alignment view and the latter has little to no will, they deserve to be always. I also felt that, much like Eberron, SL dragons can run the gammut of alignments but they are usually the same for their normal counterparts.

(Btw I felt the Assatthi were better than Lizardfolk or even Yuan-ti, and that the Slacerians aren't like their Mind Flayer minions, more "esoteric" and above concerns of mortals.) But that's just me.

Steven Brust's work Issola has a race rather like the Slarecians, called the Jenoine. It even has gods rallying together to face the alien schemes of the Jenoine, and almost losing. I found it rather similar to the basic set up of the premise of the Slarecians in the Scarred Lands.

As to the OP's question, the Player's Guides have both fluff and crunch in abundance. Like any 3rd party sourcebook, there are lots of things you have to watch out for rules-wise, but many of the PrCs and new rules can port very easily to most any other campaign. The fluff vastly expands the setting, the crunch is widely functional, what's not to love?
